Thunderbolts* Reveals New Name and Teases Doomsday in Post-Credits Scene

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Thunderbolts*

Marvel’s premieres provide valuable sneak peeks into upcoming films, such as early information about post-credit scenes that will be included in the movie. Yesterday’s reports confirmed that will feature not just one but two end-of-movie scenes. Recently disclosed details suggest that one of these extra scenes will showcase a remarkable guest appearance and replicate the signature move from Thor: Ragnarok’s mid-credit scene in 2018.

There’s often uncertainty about trustworthy information on social media, and there’s been some debate about the content of Thunderbolts’ post-credit scenes. However, one seems to align with the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday, and it may also clear up the mystery behind that asterisk. According to various posts on X, one potential scene could unfold in this manner.

As a fervent fan, I find myself captivated by the latest assembly of The Avengers, now residing in their magnificent new tower. It seems Sam is spearheading his own team under the iconic New Avengers banner, and apparently, he holds the rights to that name. Suddenly, a cosmic rumor stirs amongst them – the majestic spacecraft of the Fantastic Four is approaching our reality, ready to dock.

The upcoming scene appears to take inspiration from the mid-credit scene of Thor: Ragnarok, where Thor and Asgard survivors discover their craft overshadowed by a colossal spaceship, later identified as Thanos’ vessel in Infinity War’s opening scene. Although it remains uncertain if The Fantastic Four will make a physical appearance in the movie (it seems unlikely), this could be the scene that concludes Marvel’s First Family’s film in July.

The Thunderbolts Asterisk Finally Explained

The post-credits scene not only hinted at the expected arrival of the Doomsday scenario, but also addressed two additional queries regarding the film and the MCU. Initially, it appears that the gang intends to seize control of the old Avengers Headquarters. In the upcoming movie *Thunderbolts*, the tower is said to have been acquired by Val, portrayed by Julia Louis-Dreyfus, as their operational hub. However, her role in the story by the film’s end remains uncertain.

One intriguing mystery regarding the film centers around the interpretation of the asterisk. As hinted by Kevin Feige, its significance would be unveiled in the movie, and it appears that prediction is coming true. Based on the post-credit scene revelations, The Thunderbolts are set to rebrand as The New Avengers within the film.

2023 proved challenging for Marvel Studios as several films underperformed, and the year ended with a disappointing box office for The Marvels, despite its hints at X-Men. In contrast, 2024 was all about Deadpool and Wolverine, being the only Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) release that year. Now, as we enter 2025, it marks the start of the finale for the Multiverse Saga, which hints at epic showdowns like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars. Just as with Infinity War and Endgame, this could rekindle interest in the MCU once more. However, will the saga conclude on a high note? We might get our first clue from Thunderbolts soon.

*Note: The correct spelling of the upcoming Marvel movie is “The Thunderbolts,” not “Thunderbolts.
