Thunderbolts* Post-Credits Scenes Count Has Finally Been Revealed
The eagerly anticipated movie “Thunderbolts” is nearly ready for release, and following its premiere in London, some details have surfaced. Among these tidbits is the number of post-credit scenes the film will feature. Marvel Studios has been adding post-credit scenes to their films since the debut of “Iron Man” in 2008. These scenes can range from hints at future movies to humorous payoffs of earlier jokes within the film. Nowadays, it’s common knowledge among audiences that they should wait for the credits of an MCU film to roll, as the question is no longer whether there will be additional scenes but rather how many.
The movie, apparently titled “Thunderbolts,” is said to include the customary two scenes after the credits, as reported by moviegoer Austin Medeiros on platform X. No specifics about these scenes have been disclosed yet, considering that the team’s next appearance is slated for “Avengers: Doomsday“. Similar to how the mid-credits scene in “Thor: Ragnarok” hinted at “Avengers: Infinity War“, many anticipate that the scene between credits in “Thunderbolts” will serve as a direct preview for the 2026 release.
The intrigue surrounding Marvel’s post-movie scenes has been palpable. For instance, in “Captain America: Brave New World,” a solitary scene at the very end hinted at the X-Men and Fantastic Four’s entrance in “Avengers: Doomsday.” “Deadpool & Wolverine” boasted one post-credit sequence along with a montage of Marvel’s Fox era, set to Green Day’s ‘Good Riddance (Time of Your Life).” As for the MCU, “Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3,” released in May 2023, was the final film to showcase not one, but two post-credit scenes.
‘Thunderbolts*’ Can Correct the MCU’s Post-Credit Saga Issues
Instead of the post-credit scenes in MCU films being a delightful aspect of the overall enjoyment, the hints at the Multiverse Saga have left many fans feeling disappointed. Movies such as Eternals, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Thor: Love and Thunder introduced characters like Eros (Harry Styles), Clea (Charlize Theron), and Hercules (Brett Goldstein respectively). However, these hints have not been followed through on, and with Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars already filled with numerous characters, it seems unlikely that these new characters will be incorporated.
It’s plausible to expect that one of the Thunderbolts’ end-credits sequences might take a humorous turn, akin to the shawarma scene in The Avengers or the Pizza Poppa reference in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. However, it’s also possible that the movie may give a sneak peek into the impending appearance of Doctor Doom, or at least suggest where the Thunderbolts team (perhaps under a new name) will be when the ensemble film begins. Previously, Marvel Studios faced criticism for lacking clarity in their post-credit scenes, but by 2025, it seems that all MCU films are gearing towards setting the stage for Avengers: Doomsday.
