Thunderbolts’ Post-Credits Scene Directed by Russo Bros: Details Revealed
Be careful, this discussion might contain major twists for Marvel’s ‘Thunderbolts’. If you haven’t seen it yet and don’t want to spoil the surprise, you may want to skip ahead.
2025’s anticipated release of “Thunderbolts” has certainly created a buzz! As a dedicated movie enthusiast, I’ve been swept up in the enthusiasm surrounding this latest addition to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Florence Pugh’s performance has left audiences spellbound, and her character is undeniably captivating. You’d recall the tantalizing “shawarma” scene after the credits, which added another layer of intrigue to an already complex MCU relationship. Interestingly, it was the Russo Brothers who directed that swiftly assembled post-credits scene, and their efficiency in pulling it off is nothing short of impressive.
After a brief mid-credits sequence where Red Guardian attempts to win someone’s favor in a grocery store, the extended post-credits scene of Thunderbolts leaps ahead by 14 months. During this segment, the main team, now known as the New Avengers, gather for discussions about Sam Wilson’s copyright lawsuit against them and an ongoing cosmic problem. They are then alerted to a distress call from a spacecraft displaying a “4” insignia, hinting at the entry of the Fantastic Four into the established timeline.
Director Jake Schreier spoke about a significant scene in the movie, revealing some fascinating insights. Notably, the Russo Brothers, Joe and Anthony, were responsible for shooting this particular scene. Additionally, Schreier’s comments to Variety suggest that this scene might reappear in future Marvel Cinematic Universe films.
Four weeks ago, that scene was filmed, but I didn’t take charge of it. That’s the Russo brothers on the set of ‘Avengers: Doomsday.’ It was a blast for me to be there and see my friends move up to such an impressive level.
It seemed to me that the Russos directed the post-credits stinger. Typically, Disney’s studio uses footage from future Marvel movies for credit scenes in other films. However, this time was unusual because filming for Avengers: Doomsday hadn’t started yet. Given the situation, the team had to work swiftly, and I can hardly believe that the scene was filmed just a month ago. This is quite rapid, indeed. Jake Schrier provided additional insights on this matter.
I definitely had the opportunity to review drafts. We meticulously worked on the scene to ensure its authenticity reflected our characters’ development. Moreover, we were introducing them to a fresh environment and broader scale, aiming for their seamless integration. It was engaging to watch them being portrayed in a new context and on a larger scope than previously explored.
Filming for the movie “Doomsday” began last week, as indicated by the Russo Brothers posting a picture of Robert Downey Jr.’s chair on set. The anticipation of another movie that gathers Earth’s strongest heroes is undeniably thrilling, and it’s natural to be curious about what Downey will deliver in his portrayal of Doctor Doom. It’s also clear that new members of the Avengers team have emerged, and their arrival is bound to stir things up a bit for Sam Wilson (Captain America) and the original heroes.
With Disney+, you can delve into the thrilling world of Marvel superheroes! For an ad-supported plan, it costs just $9.99 per month. Or, opt for an ad-free experience and pay $15.99 monthly. I’m still thoroughly enjoying the premiere of “Thunderbolts“. It’s a thrilling journey and a wonderful contribution to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Kudos to Jake Schrier and his team for pulling off such an impressive production, and hats off to the Russo Brothers for skillfully managing that post-credits scene so near to release. If you haven’t caught it in theaters yet or simply want a rewatch, remember it’s playing nationwide right now.
