Thunderbolts End-Credits Reveal Shocking Fantastic Four Crossover and MCU’s Next Big Threat
In conclusion, at the finish line of “Thunderbolts”, an eclectic mix of sidekicks and antiheroes transform into the city’s unlikely heroes in defense of New York. A character named Bob (played by Lewis Pullman) endeavors to assume the role of Sentry but struggles with his powers, eventually turning into the evil entity known as Void. This malevolent force captures ordinary people and locks them within their most traumatic memories. Leading the charge is Florence Pugh’s character, Yelena, who rallies her comrades to help Bob conquer his inner demons and liberate New Yorkers from the grip of the Void.
Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ character Valentina Allegra de Fontaine seeks to restore her tarnished image by transforming the Thunderbolts team, consisting of Yelena, Bob (alongside Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes, David Harbour’s Red Guardian, Wyatt Russell’s John Walker, and Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost) into a new incarnation of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes: the New Avengers.
In two post-credit scenes, the new group calling themselves the Avengers aim to demonstrate that they can fill the big shoes left by the original team, who were undeniably more powerful. They scrutinize some satellite photos hinting at an imminent arrival of the Fantastic Four on their planet.
What happens in the mid-credits scene for Thunderbolts*
In a grocery store, Red Guardian experiences his long-held aspiration becoming reality when he finds himself on a Wheaties box labeled “New Avengers.” He attempts to persuade a passing shopper about the cereal box, even posing next to it in an attempt to be recognized as part of the team. However, the woman, merely there to purchase her groceries, smiles politely and discreetly moves on.
What happens in the end-credits scene for Thunderbolts*
fourteen months following the exhilarating incidents chronicled in Thunderbolts, I find myself nestled among my fellow New Avengers within the hallowed walls of the antiquated Avengers tower in the heart of New York City. We’ve been engrossed in a heated conversation concerning our latest legal tribulations – it appears that Sam Wilson, alias Captain America, has taken legal action against us for what he perceives as copyright infringement due to the use of the Avengers moniker. Despite Bucky’s attempts to dissuade him, Sam remains resolute in his pursuit. In a bid to find a solution, Red Guardian proposes a rebranding – changing our name to “New Avengerz” with an unconventional ‘z’, and even flaunts a stylish jacket emblazoned with the new logo and several sponsorship badges meticulously sewn onto it.
The group laments the lack of recognition from the media and points out a supposed “space predicament” happening at present, yet they’re not being informed about it by the authorities. It’s only fair to note that, under the circumstances, they wouldn’t be able to access space because their sole aviator—Bob—is yet to regain control over his powers. He’s hesitant to use his abilities as Sentry, fearing he might inadvertently summon his malevolent counterpart, the Void.
In my perspective, as a captivated moviegoer, I found myself gripped by the unfolding events as the team received an alarming notification – an “extra-dimensional vessel” was approaching our planet’s orbit. With a sense of urgency, Yelena quickly accessed satellite imagery and, with a steady hand, zoomed in on this mysterious object. What I beheld next left me utterly astonished: etched onto the hull of this alien craft was none other than the emblem of the Fantastic Four.
Why the Fantastic Four may be coming to the New Avengers’ universe
The Fantastic Four’s First Strides” is the upcoming Marvel Studios film scheduled for release on July 25th. The creative minds behind this production have disclosed that the Fantastic Four characters – Mr. Fantastic, Invisible Woman, Human Torch, and Thing – inhabit a universe distinct from the one where the Avengers films and “Thunderbolts” series unfold.
*Note: “Thunderbolts” was mistakenly written as an abbreviation in the original text. It should be written as “Thunderbolts” without any asterisks.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), traversing multiple universes isn’t a novelty. Characters like Spider-Men and Spider-Man antagonists did it in “Spider-Man: No Way Home,” as well as Doctor Strange in “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.” However, one might wonder why the Fantastic Four would need to visit the Avengers’ universe.
The upcoming movie previews show a baddie named the Silver Surfer coming to Earth, alerting the Fantastic Four about a disaster that could wipe out their home planet. It’s possible they can’t prevent this catastrophe on Earth and are forced to escape into an alternate reality. Alternatively, they might manage to save their world but decide to venture into a different dimension to warn other heroes of some impending danger.
It’s quite possible that the Fantastic Four will encounter Yelena and other heroes towards the end of their own movie or at the start of “Avengers: Doomsday.” In this film, Robert Downey Jr. portrays Dr. Doom instead of Iron Man, a role he is well-known for, but here he takes on the longstanding enemy of the Fantastic Four. The cast list reveals that both the New Avengers and original members like Chris Hemsworth’s Thor will join forces in this movie. Moreover, it appears that several original X-Men, including Patrick Stewart’s Professor X and James Marsden’s Cyclops, will be featured in the film as well. This suggests that another universe might collide with the main Avengers timeline.
