The crime anthology series, titled Accused, originally broadcast on BBC One from 2010 to 2012, is set to arrive on Netflix, currently listed as a must-watch in their “coming soon” category.
The drama features an impressive ensemble of famous actors for its first season, with Christopher Eccleston from Doctor Who, Juliet Stevenson from Professor T, and Naomie Harris from No Time to Die among others. In its second season, Anne-Marie Duff (Suspect), Olivia Colman (Broadchurch), and Sheridan Smith (Cleaning Up) also join the cast.
Every installment presents a unique character and their tale, but what links them is the shared experience of being falsely accused.
Jimmy McGovern is the creator of the series named Accused. He has further produced the widely praised prison drama titled Time, as well.
McGovern, among others, penned various episodes for the series “Accused.” Additional writing was provided by Danny Brocklehurst (known for “Fool Me Once”), Alice Nutter (“The Street”), and Shaun Duggan (“Moving On”).
The BBC described the series as a captivating new drama when it first aired, and the synopsis indicated that each hour-long episode reveals how each character ended up in their current situation. However, upon further thought, the question arises: are they really the ones to blame?
“Are they innocent or guilty or somewhere in between? And will the jury make the right judgement?”
The series known as “Accused” reappeared earlier this year on Prime Video UK, but it’s likely to gain a new following when it becomes available on Netflix, anticipated for September 10. It remains uncertain if both seasons will be made accessible on the streaming platform.
Audience members might also keep an eye out for “The Killing Kind” – a gripping British legal drama that initially premiered in 2023, set to debut on Netflix around early September as well.
The series features Colin Morgan from Merlin and Emma Appleton known for The Witcher, and it unfolds the tale of a prominent barrister who finds herself in a precarious situation due to her overly intimate relationship with one of her past clients.
