Returning Belfast-set crime series Blue Lights has dropped a first look at its new season.
In 2024, the gripping BBC police series concluded, receiving widespread praise for its narrative about a team of officers stationed in Northern Ireland.
We’ve just gotten a peek at some exclusive photographs from the filming of season 3, which was completed earlier this year.
What to Read Next
In the upcoming series, characters Grace (Siân Brooke), Annie (Katherine Devlin), and Tommy (Nathan Braniff) are shown after spending two years on the job. Now they’ve grown comfortable with their lives under the watchful eye of the police department.
The synopsis continues by revealing that their work will lead them into a shady underworld concealed beneath the respectable facade of upper-middle-class living. This realm is inhabited by accountants and lawyers who secretly aid in the operations of criminal organizations.

In simpler terms, the traditional power structure in politics and crime has collapsed, and now a new form of international gang rule, which poses a greater threat to our officers, has taken hold in Belfast.
As a devoted fan, I’m thrilled to share that for the upcoming season, we have some exciting new additions! The talented Cathy Tyson from ‘Boiling Point’ will be joining us as Dana Morgan, a charismatic owner of a private members club. Moreover, Michael Smiley, known for his role in ‘Bad Sisters’, will be gracing our screens as Paul ‘Colly’ Collins, a fresh new intelligence officer. Can’t wait to see what these remarkable actors bring to the table!

This year, Brooke hinted that fans would not be disappointed with season 3. She made this statement to Radio Times, saying, “I believe the writing for this season is truly exceptional – I can’t help but wonder how they continue to improve, but they surely do.
Complimenting the “carefully designed” characters, she noted: “A great deal of thought was put into their creation, and each one is unique in its own way. People find themselves connecting with them deeply, eagerly following their journey to see how their tale unfolds.
Blue Lights airs on BBC One and is available to stream on iPlayer.
