Three Women episode 3 recap: A closer look at Sloane

As a long-time fan of compelling drama series, I must say that episode 3 of “Three Women” has truly caught my attention. The intricate portrayal of Sloane’s character and her complex relationships with her family, friends, and husband, Richard, has left me captivated.

In the last episode, we delved into one of the three female characters, Lina, and now in episode 3 of “Three Women”, our attention turns to Sloane. Let me refresh your memory about the key events that unfolded. SPOILERS AHEAD.

In the first episode, it subtly foreshadows a strained bond between Sloane and her mom, Diana, which is further developed throughout this installment. Immediately, the show takes us back to young Sloane’s life as an overweight girl who loved dancing in her room. Upon entering, Diana, her mother, criticizes her by saying, “Grown women don’t become dancers.

The scene shifts to Sloane post-workout, where she encounters Gia for the first time. This encounter suggests the significance of physical fitness in her life. Later, she dines with her mother, who is harsh and hard to engage with. Subsequently, Sloane crosses paths with Will, a man she finds highly appealing, who advises her to switch flower vendors for her business.

This encounter brings Sloane to Lily, who is Will’s girlfriend and the one who earlier assisted Sloan in freeing her heel from the sidewalk. There’s an immediate connection between them, suggesting they could become friends. However, Sloane harbors feelings for Will, but he’s already committed to Lily. Interestingly, Sloane also admires Lily. In a bold move, she proposes to her husband Richard that they invite Will into their bedroom, but Richard is unwilling.

Instead, Richard arranges an enjoyable double date with another couple, where partners switch during the night. However, trouble arises when the other man is paired with Sloane, as he neglects to use a condom. This prematurely ends the fun and they are asked to leave, causing a disagreement between Sloane and Richard about their policy on intimacy with others.

Whenever we gather as a family, I can’t help but notice the subtle jabs from my mother, and even my dad and brother chip in too. They often disguise their comments as light-hearted banter, but the underlying message is clear: they seem to suggest that my success and improvement are largely due to meeting Richard.

Sloane, understandably upset, seeks comfort in a sweet treat to ease her emotions, but later regurgitates it. This action recalls her past struggles with weight, hinting that her mother’s criticism has lingering effects on her self-image. In times of stress, she turns to Will, someone she finds hard to resist. Remarkably, he confesses that he often thinks about her as well.

Essentially, Will and Sloane don’t physically interact or engage in activities beyond him getting relief while she watches, and guides him when to do so. This behavior breaches the rules Sloane has with her partner Richard. Afterwards, Sloane deceives Richard by claiming they merely bumped into each other and nothing untoward occurred. However, Richard senses something amiss. With Will now involved with his girlfriend Lily, I anticipate this predicament will escalate into a complex mess.
