Three Women episode 2 recap: Lina has had enough and finds passion elsewhere

As a dedicated fan of Three Women, I must say that episode 2, titled “Lina,” left me utterly captivated and empathetic towards our protagonist’s predicament. The portrayal of Lina’s desperate longing for physical touch was both heart-wrenching and relatable, a testament to the show’s ability to delve deep into human emotions.

The second installment of “Three Women” is named “Lina,” as it focuses entirely on the character from Indiana who is a housewife and mother, yearning for something more in her marriage. This episode delved deeper into her emotions and her intense longing for physical intimacy. The tension culminates in a fresh episode of the Starz series. Are you prepared for the summary? Let’s dive right in! (SPOILERS AHEAD)

Lina has had enough

The story opens as Lina endeavors to discover personal joy following her doctor’s advice, yet finding it challenging due to constant interruptions from her children and duties – a common predicament indeed. However, this woman is yearning for relief. After a distressing episode, her husband Ed downplays her struggles, attributing them solely to mental causes. Great insight, Mr. Know-it-all. Dr. Henry proposes that she join a women’s support group to discuss her concerns and maybe find solace.

Initially, it’s advantageous and she derives pleasure from interacting with other women who vividly depict things. Generally speaking, the group appears to be nurturing. However, this perception changes when Lina takes an unexpected action, which the other women criticize. Later on, we delve into flashbacks of a younger Lina and her romantic interest, Aidan. Remarkably, she manages to find him. Yet, he’s currently married, leading to outcomes that aren’t shocking in retrospect.

Lina finds passion elsewhere

While she is preparing to attend a bachelorette party, Ed makes every effort to convince her not to go. To be honest, it’s just one night. He’s upset about the expense of a motel room and the responsibility of taking care of their two sons alone. When their eldest son starts bleeding from his nose, he feels overwhelmed and unsure of how to respond. Lina angrily snaps at him and sarcastically asks if he remembers how to call 911 in case of an emergency before she leaves.

After the party, Lina and Aidan meet again, and he visits her hotel room. The atmosphere between them quickly becomes intense, and Lina finally experiences the passionate kisses she’s longed for. However, despite her being on her period, Aidan doesn’t hold back from spending the night with her. It’s worth noting that this scene contains male frontal nudity. Although it’s not clear what prompted Lina to be unfaithful to her husband, I’m curious about what circumstances caused Aidan to act similarly.

Lina and Gia connect

Following an intense evening, Lina confides in her female friends about the events that transpired. However, they respond with a lack of empathy. Previously, she had informed them that she was giving Ed 17 days to alter his ways, and if he failed to do so, she intended to depart from him. Some of these women criticize Lina for sleeping with Aidan, suggesting she should have waited since her separation from Ed was imminent. This criticism angers Lina, but she remains unfazed because they fail to comprehend the emotional and physical torment she endures as a result of her husband’s neglect.

Gia chases after the person and explains to Lina the true reason for her trip to Indiana. This includes disclosing that she’s being sued by her publishing house due to missing a book deadline, so she needs new ideas quickly. She suggests Lina as one of these ideas and hopes to get closer to her. Additionally, it’s unclear how Gia and Dr. Henry know each other. Are they in a relationship or are they just friendly enough for him to call her ‘babe’?

In conclusion, the episode finishes with Lina and Aidan reuniting at the lake, suggesting that their relationship may carry on. Interestingly, a flashback reveals young Lina taking money from a different boy, whom she asks not to inform Aidan about whatever secret transpired between them. Keep an eye out for next week’s episode 3, focusing on Sloane! Don’t forget to join us as we discuss the events of this installment.
