Three things to be thankful for in professional wrestling in 2024
As a seasoned gamer who has witnessed the evolution of the gaming industry, I can’t help but draw parallels between my favorite pastime and the world of professional wrestling as we approach Thanksgiving 2024.
This Thanksgiving Day, millions across the nation are commemorating the occasion. Reflecting on the year that has passed, there are numerous reasons for fans of professional wrestling and sports entertainment to feel gratitude as well. Here’s a list of things worth celebrating and giving thanks for in the professional wrestling world during 2024:
Bustling Competition
The world of professional wrestling is currently experiencing an exciting growth period. The WWE consistently surpasses its Key Performance Indicators on both a quarterly and yearly basis. Recently, All Elite Wrestling secured a financially beneficial new television agreement. TNA Wrestling, in partnership with the WWE, has also reported improved metrics. There’s been a lot of encouraging news lately. This competitive success not only benefits performers but also staff members working behind the scenes. When the WWE held a monopolistic control over the business, prospects weren’t promising for anyone other than those in the highest echelons of power. However, with the current thriving market conditions, this growth is something to be grateful for across the board.
Variety
Professional wrestling isn’t just a one-style-fits-all entertainment anymore; it never truly was. The industry suffered when everything adhered to Vince McMahon’s vision. Now, there are numerous avenues to witness professional wrestling presented in diverse ways, which could attract more viewers. Stagnation in creativity is detrimental, and this holds true for wrestling as well. Essentially, it’s like a variety show with multiple acts.
Actual Journalism
In some circles of professional wrestling, there’s regrettable content produced by certain outlets and personalities. On a positive note, there are also dedicated journalists within this community who are doing exceptional work. Just like major sports leagues, good and accurate journalism is crucial for keeping fans informed and truth at the center. Unfortunately, professional wrestling has been lacking in this area, but 2024 was a year that showcased its potential to shine in various aspects.
