Two teams hold the title as best, but G2 Esports became historical by not just winning, but completely dominating their opponents (NRG) in the VCT Americas: Stage 2 finals with a perfect 3-0 score.
If you doubted G2 Esports’ prowess earlier, it could be worth revising your decisions, as they have bagged their third domestic title of the year at VCT Americas. Incredibly, this marks the third time they’ve triumphed in a single year, with Jacob “valyn” Batio earning MVP honors for his impressive performance.
G2 Esports is your VCT Americas: Stage 2 winner!
Following the conclusion of VCT Americas: Kickoff and Stage 1, G2 Esports clinched Stage 2 with a 3-0 victory over NRG. In doing so, they joined Edward Gaming as the second team to secure three consecutive domestic championships, having achieved this feat in 2024. Since the start of the Split, G2 has suffered only one series loss, against Sentinels.
In a remarkable turn of events, NRG demonstrated an impressive streak in Group Omega, managing to win four games while suffering just one defeat at the hands of 100 Thieves during the group stage. This stellar performance earned them the top spot in their group, but their journey was cut short when they encountered G2 in the Upper Bracket Semifinals and were defeated. To secure a place in the Grand Finals, NRG overcame challenges posed by Evil Geniuses, Leviatán, Cloud9, and Sentinels. Regrettably, in the final showdown against G2, they found themselves outmatched by a formidable and cohesive team.
Throwback through Stage 2
At the start of the tournament, Nathan “leaf” Orf had to take a break due to Crohn’s disease. In his absence, Andrej “BABYBAY” Francisty stepped in and provided some memorable high-point farming performances that earned him praise for his vibrant personality and strong gameplay. When leaf returned to the team, G2 Esports announced that BABYBAY would remain with them as a reserve player until the end of the season.
G2 Esports is now traveling to Paris to compete for the VALORANT Champions 2025 trophy. Having finished second in Masters Bangkok and fourth in Masters Toronto, this North American team aspires to enter a golden phase in their career. Their initial contest will be against Team Heretics on September 14, 2025.
