Three Comedic Stars in ‘Getting Rid of Matthew’ Rom-Com

Delightful tidings for enthusiasts of Jane Fallon’s novel “Getting Rid of Matthew” – it is soon to be transformed into a movie. Hernán Jiménez has taken on the screenplay adaptation and will also serve as the film’s director. Emma Roberts, Luke Wilson, and Heather Graham have been cast for the lead roles.

As a cinephile, I’m thrilled to share that Julia Roberts will embody Helen, a vibrant spirit who listens to her heart’s whispers. It’s guided her to the dazzling cityscape of New York and her cherished dream job. However, her heart’s latest beat leads to Matthew (Luke Wilson), an intelligent, captivating, and overconfident boss. But there’s a twist: Matthew is married to Sophie (Heather Graham), a patient soul who bears the brunt of their clandestine affair.

However, it’s revealed that Matthew is not as he appears. In the ensuing narrative: “Helen believes addressing Matthew will resolve the issue, but when he shows up at her doorstep – unkempt, weeping, and carrying all his belongings – having left Sophie behind, Helen understands she’s now sharing a home with a man in mid-life crisis, who exhibits signs of arrested development and immature behavior, and has numerous undesirable habits.

Jiménez is excited about directing a new adaptation of the story, sharing with Deadline, “I devoured Jane’s novel in one sitting – it pulses with such vibrant energy, and she brings Helen, who is chaotic, lovable, and mischievous, to life so brilliantly. I believe audiences will become enamored with Emma as she portrays this character, and they will enjoy watching her frantic attempts to escape Matthew!”

Alloy Entertainment is busy with production, while Architect has initiated global distribution. Calum Gray from Architect commented to the media outlet: “Getting Rid of Matthew” is a tantalizing, rebellious, and uproariously funny comedy that explores the pitfalls of receiving exactly what you wished for. This movie, featuring three well-loved comic talents, promises to be an entertaining escape for weekend viewers and a repeat choice for contemporary global audiences.

Heather Graham Wants There To Be More Women-Led Films

Heather Graham recently mentioned in an interview that many narratives are predominantly told from a male perspective, which often results in female characters serving as secondary roles. She expressed concern because stories about women weren’t receiving the same level of enthusiasm, funding, and backing, leading her to ponder how this might influence the self-perception of women growing up.

In addition, she expressed thoughts on the topic. If I grew up thinking that men were always the main characters, it felt like my role was merely to support their stories, rather than realizing that my own narrative and feelings mattered. It wasn’t about me being a sidekick to the leading man, she explained. In Getting Rid of Matthew, it seems unlikely that her story will take a backseat to a male character.
