Thousands Bid Emotional Farewell as MuppetVision 3D Closes Its Doors Forever!
At Disney’s Hollywood Studios, a significant chapter came to a close, and the Park Hoppin’ team was on hand to document the event, as MuppetVision 3D officially shut down for good.
On the last day of MuppetVision 3D, Jay (more commonly recognized as Drunk3PO) and Krista from Park Hoppin’ recorded the heartfelt goodbye to an adored attraction that Disney is phasing out. As MuppetVision softly bid farewell, fans ensured it was not forgotten without recognition.
Fans Flood the Area While Other Attractions Sit Empty
A multitude of visitors flooded Jim Henson’s Muppets Courtyard to honor his last creation. The line for MuppetVision 3D extended so far that it spilled into Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, reaching as far as the backup queue for Rise of the Resistance. Temporarily, MuppetVision 3D boasted a longer wait than the state-of-the-art attraction within the park.

Meanwhile, Star Tours sat nearly empty with just a 5-minute wait.
Pressed Pennies, PizzeRizzo, and Piggy Draw Crowds
Jay and Krista displayed an unusually lengthy queue of visitors eager to purchase a keepsake from the MuppetVision pressed penny dispenser before leaving. At Miss Piggy’s fountain, admirers lined up for their last chance at a photo opportunity, while PizzeRizzo’s entrance was bustling with guests enjoying every bit of the remaining Muppet-themed decorations.

The Park Hoppin pair ventured indoors for their midday meal, taking note of the restaurant’s unique wedding-reception-themed grand ballroom and the numerous humorous Muppet references subtly displayed on its walls. One particularly touching detail they noticed? A discreet tribute to Pa Otter, a character from Emmet Otter’s Jug-Band Christmas – a lesser-known reference that any ardent Jim Henson admirer would treasure.
Inside the Theater, Nostalgia Takes Center Stage
Upon stepping into the theater, it was clear that every seat was taken. The foyer teemed with guests, their laughter echoing in response to classic jokes – specifically, the Three D’s sketch (with Max filling in for Debbie who was unwell, as per union rules), Rizzo the Rat impersonating Mickey Mouse, and other timeless scenes that have kept generations entertained.

But the most emotional part of the day came during the final showing itself.
As Kermit concluded the performance with his familiar sign-off—”Drop by some time, won’t you?”-the reality of the moment became palpable. For numerous fans, it marked the final remnant of the original Muppets still present in a Disney theme park.
Now, it’s gone.
Muppets Out, Monsters In
In a move criticized as insensitive by many fans, Disney is rumored to be shutting down MuppetVision 3D to create space for a Monsters Inc.-themed area. This corporate decision appears to prioritize intellectual property integration over preserving authenticity and honoring the legacy of Jim Henson’s creation. Although Bob Iger and Josh D’Amaro might not have seen significance in maintaining the last attraction directly managed by Jim Henson, the audience who packed that theater most certainly did.

Due to the emotional portrayal by Jay and Krista, we’ve been able to preserve an enduring testimony of the deep affection fans continue to harbor for the Muppets, as well as the subtle sadness that ensues when something treasured gets overlooked or dismissed.
