Following a threat from someone he’d been having an affair with, Amy-Lucy O’Rourke, Thomas Skinner posted an encouraging message about bouncing back from difficult situations.
Just weeks after marrying Sinéad in May 2022, the 34-year-old star of The Apprentice had a brief affair, which he described as a reckless mistake.
Amy-Lucy later told the Daily Mail that they had a secret relationship for three months. During that time, she said he told her he loved her and was unhappy in his marriage.
Once the affair became public, Amy-Lucy went to Instagram and threatened to reveal damaging information about Thomas, claiming she had proof of how he had treated her.
The controversy continues, and on Thursday, Thomas spoke to his 700,000 followers, acknowledging the difficult times he’s facing.
Alongside a selfie, he penned: ‘Good Morning You Lovely People!!’
Thomas shared that he had a good start to the day with a workout at the gym and is excited to continue dancing with his partner on Strictly.
‘Remeber [sic]….Never give up, because one day you will look back and be glad you didn’t!
‘Now go smash it! You are ten times stronger than you can ever imagine.
Have a great day! Focus on the positive, and don’t let negativity hold you back. Just go for it!
Just a few hours before, Amy-Lucy had defended herself against online trolls, stating she wasn’t trying to break up a relationship.
Even though Thomas tried to seem positive, he appeared stressed when he was seen at rehearsals later that day.
The mattress salesman looked worried and kept his eyes lowered as he answered a phone call just outside the studios.
Amy Dowden, spotted arriving at the studios as well, seemed cheerful and waved to people watching.
Wearing black shorts and comfortable clogs, Thomas finished his phone call and went inside to continue practicing.
Ever since Thomas was announced as a contestant on Strictly last month, he’s been caught up in controversy.
While being interviewed at the Strictly press day, Thomas briefly took a reporter’s phone after seeing several notifications about a private story from his past appear on the screen.
He followed up with a statement offering an apology to the journalist, and acknowledged he was striving to overcome challenges from his past.
Several days later, Thomas confessed to being unfaithful to his wife, describing it as a reckless mistake that nearly destroyed everything he held dear.
The Daily Mail reported that Thomas and Amy-Lucy first started communicating on May 13, 2022 – only eight days before his wedding to Sinead.
Amy-Lucy has always maintained she didn’t share details of the affair for financial gain or publicity, but rather to explain how hurt she was by the situation.
‘No-one knows the full story, the story’s massive the story is insane,’ she posed on Monday.

Amy-Lucy later posted several harsh memes on Instagram, seemingly continuing to criticize Thomas.

In a recent post, he discussed the latest developments, emphasizing the importance of learning from errors and avoiding repeating them.
He shared a photo of the dinner his wife, Sinead, made – a chicken and couscous salad. After a long day of training for Strictly, his legs were aching, but he was really enjoying the experience.
