This year's most controversial movie is finally available on Digital

As a long-time fan of Marvel and comic book movies, this year has been a rollercoaster ride of emotions for me. From the highs of Deadpool and Wolverine’s team-up to the unparalleled success of Inside Out 2, it’s safe to say that 2024 has been a banner year for cinema. But let’s not forget about the smaller (yet equally entertaining) films that have graced our screens this year – like Venom: The Last Dance!

2023 has been an exceptional year for cinema, boasting a number of significant films hitting theaters. Admittedly, a few productions had to postpone their original 2024 premieres because of setbacks, but we’ve still been treated to a wealth of captivating movies in the meantime.

Marvel Studios experienced a remarkable resurgence in 2023, outshining their previous lackluster performance with the blockbuster hit “Deadpool and Wolverine”. Surprisingly, this wasn’t even the top earner for the year. The sequel to “Inside Out” broke records with its groundbreaking performance, amassing a staggering $1.6 billion. As the year comes to an end, it’s going out in grand style, with the triple threat of “Wicked”, “Gladiator 2”, and “Moana 2” delivering record-breaking Thanksgiving box office numbers (and maintaining their success throughout the rest of the year).

If you haven’t had a chance to visit the cinema this year but are eager to catch up with some of the year’s blockbusters, you can easily do so from the convenience of your own home. And one of the most debated films among them has just been released on all digital streaming platforms.

Venom: The Last Dance is now available on Digital

As of December 10, you can now buy “Venom: The Last Dance” digitally. This Sony Marvel film features Tom Hardy reprising his role as Eddie Brock along with his symbiotic partner in the third and final installment of the Venom trilogy. It caused quite a stir during its theatrical release.

If you haven’t encountered it before, the Venom trilogy is based on characters from Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man universe (which seems to have ended according to recent reports). The main character of this series, known as Venom, is one of Spider-Man’s most well-known villains or anti-heroes and has gained significant fame in films due to their unconventional and extravagant storylines.

This year's most controversial movie is finally available on Digital

As a die-hard fan, I must admit that Sony’s Marvel series films haven’t exactly been critical darlings, so my expectations for Venom: The Last Dance were relatively subdued. However, the Venom movies have resonated deeply with fans, far more than they have with critics. So, we were eagerly anticipating a powerful send-off for our beloved character. Whether it delivered or not depends on how deeply one roots for Venom, but without a doubt, Venom 3 has stirred up quite the debate among viewers, making it one of the most contentious films of the year.

The movie drew significant criticism for its portrayal of Marvel Comics villain Knull, excessive expository dialogue, and seemingly unnecessary characters. Critics also noted issues with the film’s pace, with some finding the first two acts to be either pointless or excessively slow. However, the third act lived up to the unconventional and outrageous reputation of the Venom franchise, and I believe that if the rest of the movie had been as entertaining as its climactic battle, it could have been the standout film in the trilogy.

If you’re curious about the commotion, you can either rent or buy “Venom: The Last Dance” from iTunes, Amazon Prime Video, or any other Digital Video On Demand services.
