This Week in Star Wars Comics: September goes out quietly

As a seasoned gamer and Star Wars enthusiast who has witnessed the evolution of the galaxy far, far away since the original trilogy, I can say that September 2024 was an interesting month for comic book fans. It felt like a prelude to the grand event in October, much like the quiet before the storm.

In September 2024, Star Wars comic books experienced an unusual phase. It was a time of transition as two primary series concluded to pave the way for the upcoming comic event in October. This event will serve as a foundation for the storytelling in 2025. Meanwhile, some ongoing comics continued their narratives, and significant announcements were postponed until New York Comic Con in October. Overall, it was a relatively subdued month.

Still, there is a new comic to talk about This Week in Star Wars Comics, so let’s get into it.

Star Wars: Ahsoka #3

Moving forward, issue #3 of the comic adaptation for the popular series “Ahsoka” delves into the happenings of episode 3 from the show. Much like my previous comments on these adaptations, they’re a great way to experience familiar episodes or characters in a fresh artistic perspective. However, unlike some other adaptations such as the Rogue One comic or Star Wars Visions manga, these comics don’t add much new context to the original stories. Essentially, this is just a comic book version of Ahsoka. If you enjoy this format, then this one is tailored for you. The third issue of “Star Wars: Ahsoka” is penned by Rodney Barnes, with illustrations by Steven Cummings and cover art by Phil Noto.

Wrapping up September now, I’m eagerly anticipating October as it marks the beginning of an exhilarating phase for Star Wars comics! The much-awaited comic event titled “Insurgency Rising” will ignite the Battle of Jakku, paving the way for the post-Return of the Jedi era in Star Wars comics next year. This promises to establish a solid foundation for future projects such as The Mandalorian, Star Wars Resistance, and the sequel trilogy period. It’s going to be an exciting time for comic book enthusiasts!

Of course, we’ll delve into it every week right here in This Week in Star Wars Comics. Catch you there in the comic spreads!
