This Week in Star Wars Comics: Part 2 of the Battle of Jakku kicks off!
As a lifelong Star Wars enthusiast who has journeyed through the galaxy far, far away since childhood, this week’s comic releases have me more excited than a Jedi at a lightsaber convention! The Battle of Jakku and The High Republic are two of my favorite ongoing series, and seeing them come together is like the perfect double scoop of blue milk and bantha-burger.
November is whizzing past us, and so is the ongoing Marvel comic event! This week marks the start of Part 2 in the epic saga titled “The Battle of Jakku,” which forms part of the maxiseries that links the time frame of the original trilogy to the sequel era. Additionally, we’ve got a few installments from The High Republic series as well.

As a dedicated gamer, I’m finding myself in the heat of a galaxy-wide conflict between The New Republic and Imperial warlords, all while Luke Skywalker delves deep into uncovering secrets about the ancient Jedi Order. Unfortunately, Han Solo and Chewbacca are currently MIA, leaving our team in a precarious situation. But here’s hoping a popular archaeologist – someone I’ve always admired for their skills and resilience – could be the key to solving this mystery and turning the tide for The New Republic.
Battle of Jakku – Republic Under Siege #1
On the perilous world of Valo, the malevolent Nihil are advancing with the intention of seizing it. A distress signal, originating from a pirate radio broadcaster known as Scarlet Skull, calls for help. Who steps up to the challenge? The Jedi Knight Farzala Tarabal and her Padawan Ram Jomaram! However, can they save the planet in time before it’s too late?
In simpler terms, “The High Republic Adventures #12” is penned by Daniel José Older, while Caïo Filipe and Michael Atiyeh handle the illustrations, and Harvey Tolibao is responsible for the cover art.
This week, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve got my hands on “The High Republic Phase III Vol. 2 – The Hunted”! This trade paperback compiles issues 6-10 of the mainline “The High Republic” comic series, but it offers something extra special – a one-shot titled “The Acolyte: Kelnacca,” which delves into the captivating life story of the remarkable Wookiee character from “The Acolyte.
