Prime Video just dropped the trailer for *Playdate*, and it shows a comedic side of Alan Ritchson that viewers of *Reacher* haven’t seen yet. In the new movie, Ritchson teams up with Kevin James to play two dads who stay home with the kids.
What starts as a simple playdate between some dads at the park quickly spirals into a hilariously chaotic day.
The movie begins with Brian, who recently lost his job as an accountant, agreeing to a playdate between his son and Jeff’s son. Jeff is a friendly, stay-at-home dad, and Brian anticipates a relaxed afternoon of chatting and playing catch.

Instead of anything planned, he suddenly finds himself fighting for survival, desperately trying to escape a relentless group of mercenaries who are hunting him down.
The action comedy, directed by Luke Greenfield and written by Neil Goldman, will start streaming on Prime Video on November 12th. It stars Sarah Chalke, Alan Tudyk, Stephen Root, and Isla Fisher in supporting roles.

I just saw the new trailer and it’s so funny! It starts with Brian tossing a ball with his son when he meets Jeff, who’s doing the same with his kid. The boys hit it off and ask if they can hang out, and Brian’s totally cool with it. It sets up a really cute and funny situation!
Things take an unexpected turn after a pizza run to Buckee Cheese when a stranger shows up and starts a fight with Jeff.
When the young boy declares that the man, Jeff, isn’t his father—just someone who picked him up—the group immediately leaves the pizza restaurant, and a fast-paced chase begins.
Most fans know Alan Ritchson for his dramatic roles, especially in *Reacher*. However, earlier in his career, he appeared in several comedies, including *Blue Mountain State: The Rise of Thadland*, *Lazer Team*, and *The Turkey Bowl*.

In an interview with *Entertainment Weekly*, Ritchson explained that he was attracted to *Playdate* because of its unexpectedly emotional story and the interesting mix of a normal family life with sudden, intense action and mayhem.
He explained that the story went from normal, like playing catch with a football, to completely wild, with chases and danger happening from inside a minivan. He found the combination of ordinary family life and intense action really appealing.
Ritchson promises a truly unique and wild movie experience. He says viewers can expect a backyard and indoor play area unlike anything they’ve ever seen, filled with a blend of hilarious moments, heartwarming scenes, and non-stop action.
Playdate will be available to stream on Wednesday 12 November on Prime Video.
