Great news for gamers like me! I just found out that the show I’ve been eagerly waiting for has finally premiered on BBC iPlayer last Thursday evening. Can’t wait to dive in!
In 2018, I was thoroughly captivated by a film that boasted an ensemble cast of legendary British actors, with Sir Michael Caine taking the helm. Accompanying him were acting greats such as Jim Broadbent, Sir Tom Courtenay, Sir Michael Gambon, and Ray Winstone. Notably, Charlie Cox and Paul Whitehouse also lent their talents to this stellar cast. What a treat for film enthusiasts like myself!

In their review, the Observer rightfully praised the impressive skill and charm with which Caine, Courtenay, Broadbent, and Gambon sparred against each other.
As an enthusiast, I find it delightful to share that this tale is a treasure trove for mature performers. The daring heist in question wasn’t orchestrated by the boisterous youth of Guy Ritchie, but rather by a band of six seniors, each of whom were well into their 70s!
Under the leadership of career criminal Brian Reader, known for his role in the Brink’s-Mat robbery that served as inspiration for the crime drama The Gold, a group of men burglarized a secure vault beneath London’s jewelry quarter. They drilled through a concrete wall to access the safe deposit boxes, making off with an approximate £14 million in cash and jewels. To date, only a third of the stolen goods have been retrieved.
Despite the fact that the tale might be well-known already – whether you’ve watched one of its film adaptations or kept up with the case back then – what truly sets King of Thieves apart is its stellar cast.
