This Morning’s Rochelle Humes announces huge change to the show – as ITV introduces drastic cuts to its daytime schedule

To help This Morning appear more authentic to regular viewers, ITV executives have loosened a strict fashion guideline. Notably swift in taking advantage of this adjustment, presenter Rochelle Humes did so right away.

For years, This Morning presenters followed an unwritten but closely monitored dress code.

In contrast to Holly Willoughby’s penchant for pastel midi dresses that accentuate her waist, Alison Hammond often chooses vibrant, flowing tunics and eye-catching accessories as her go-to style.

On the “This Morning” couch, intelligence has long been a constant, with one article of clothing strictly forbidden. However, this rule has now been broken.

As a lifestyle expert, I’d put it this way: “On the vibrant set of This Morning, it was me, Rochelle, who shook things up a bit by sporting a pair of trendy light-wash jeans from River Island. This unexpected choice, in a program known for its polished, glamorous daytime style, added a touch of casual chic.

35-year-old ex-Saturdays band member shared on TikTok before today’s performance: “It turns out there’s a change in the dress code! We couldn’t wear denim before, right? But now we can! I find this fantastic and liberating!

Currently, a whirlwind of backstage turmoil and new disclosures regarding ITV’s popular daytime program, This Morning, are surfacing. However, it isn’t just Rochelle’s casual denim style that’s changing in the studio; there are other significant transformations taking place as well.

British television host Cat Deeley, who has recently taken up a new role as an anchor for This Morning, has been encouraged to bring back her Brummie accent, which had become softer after spending years working in American television, to better connect with the UK daytime audience.

A source from ITV had earlier shared with the Mail that “The Morning Show team is seeking hosts who feel relatable to viewers, and there were concerns that Catherine might come across as overly polished and groomed.

But the changes go far deeper than denim and dialects.

Despite mostly avoiding major reductions during ITV’s recent restructuring, the long-standing show “This Morning” must scale back its production quality substantially due to cost-cutting measures.

The program is hosted by Cat Deeley (age 48), Ben Shephard (age 50), Alison Hammond (age 50), and Dermot O’Leary (age 51). It gained recognition for its grand musical theater performances and broadcasts from various locations, such as the This Morning forest, which was acquired by the channel in 2021.

However, it’s been suggested that plans for Alison to travel to Los Angeles for interviews with celebrities and large-scale projects might be cancelled.

Over at Good Morning Britain, which shares the morning slot with ITV, the situation is particularly stormy.

Following a rocky beginning in 2014, GMB eventually solidified itself as a popular choice for television viewers, often attracting more than a million people. However, currently, viewership has dropped to approximately 700,000, leading to its most significant transformation yet.

The program will be integrated with ITV’s main news department, managed by ITN, as part of an effort to simplify processes and reduce expenses. With BBC Breakfast maintaining a significant lead in viewership (usually attracting over a million viewers each day), ITV executives are optimistic that restructuring could help bridge the 400,000-viewer difference.

Although details are still being worked out, some key modifications have been proposed. These include the establishment of a fresh production facility, a shift towards a more formal editorial approach, and collaboration among reporting teams for daily news broadcasts.
