This Morning’s Dr Philippa Kaye reveals she has undergone a hysterectomy after ‘cancer risk’

Dr. Philippa Kaye, a regular on This Morning, has shared that she recently had a hysterectomy due to a heightened risk of cancer.

The 46-year-old doctor and writer is a frequent guest on daytime television and specializes in women’s, children’s, and sexual health.

On Wednesday, Philippa posted happy selfies to Instagram and shared her feelings about her recent surgery.

She said: ‘Thoughts I have about my hysterectomy that do and don’t make sense.

I understood logically that it was causing me health issues and pain, and I didn’t want any more children. It simply wasn’t beneficial, was causing me harm, and increased my risk of cancer.

It was a difficult emotional decision, but I had to have it removed after being diagnosed with cancer. Otherwise, it would still be a part of me – it’s where my babies grew.

It’s hard to understand why some things happen, even when those things are still a part of my life. I sometimes wonder if losing my womb and ovaries makes me any less of a woman, but logically, I know that’s not true.

It’s common to think one thing and feel another, and that’s what makes emotions so complicated.

She captioned the post: ‘Post op thoughts don’t always make practical, intellectual sense.’

Her 51,600 social media followers offered plenty of well wishes and support following her post.

People shared messages of support, saying they understood the difficult emotions and lasting effects of cancer, and sent their love.

‘Sending lots of love to you and thinking of you xxx’

Philippa shared in January that she was having surgery, but she didn’t say what was wrong with her health.

She said that once the day of the surgery came, there was no point in worrying anymore – all questions and concerns would be left behind.

‘You put your big girl pants on. You trust in your team and you let go. See you on the other side.’

Phillipa was diagnosed with stage two bowel cancer aged just 39 back in 2019.

In 2020, she announced she was cancer-free after completing six months of chemotherapy and a twelve-hour surgery to remove the last trace of the disease.

She announced on the This Morning show that, after almost 18 months, her cancer was finally gone. She expressed her excitement, saying it felt great to be able to trade her everyday pajamas for something else and appear on the show!
