This Morning star explains surprising career move

As a huge fan of both Dr Ranj Singh and musical theatre, I’m absolutely thrilled to see him embarking on this new adventure in his career. His passion for performing arts was ignited at a young age when he came second in a regional singing contest, and now, decades later, he’s finally getting the chance to live that dream.

Former This Morning star Dr Ranj Singh has explained his decision to pursue a career in theatre.

The well-known TV figure is set to begin his journey into musical theater for the first time during the countrywide tour of “& Juliet“. In this production, he will portray the character of Lance Du Bois.

David West Read, known for his writing on “Schitt’s Creek,” offers an intriguing twist to the traditional Shakespeare story: instead of Juliet passing away, this production delves into the consequences if she had lived on with Romeo.

In an interview with Pink News, I shared my long-held dream that took root in me as a six-year-old when I placed second in a local singing competition.

Towards the close of 2023 and the beginning of 2024, I found myself at a turning point. Being in my middle age now, I felt the urge for a fresh endeavor and mused, “It’s time for a change.”

In my medical profession, I had achieved my professional goals. I felt a strong desire to tackle something new and exciting, which had long intrigued me – musical theater. It was a hidden passion waiting to be pursued alongside seeking more happiness in my life.

The doctor continued by sharing that the varied acting ensemble of the show made him feel “extremely affirmed” as a novice actor. Furthermore, he expressed that they had grown particularly close to him and were now considered his “dearest loved ones.”

In his new endeavor, Dr. Ranj expressed that some individuals in the theater community had questioned him and remarked, “Aren’t you supposed to belong here?” However, he emphasized, “There’s room for all of us.”

I believe that each person’s journey through life is unique and not everyone has had the same opportunities or experiences. For instance, not everyone has been fortunate enough to attend theatre school and develop a strong foundation in the arts. Instead, we all follow our own distinct paths. My experiences have shaped me into who I am today, and I recognize that others’ experiences may lead them down different roads. It’s essential to respect and value these differences, as they add richness and diversity to our world.

I not only joined the regular practice sessions with everyone else, but I also took additional classes to catch up and stay on par. I put in an immense amount of effort, and I can only hope that my hard work will pay off.

Dr. Ranj expressed his desire to perform in more theater productions in the coming days, yet he didn’t dismiss the possibility of revisiting TV and medicine. He also unveiled an idea for his upcoming project, potentially involving writing.

In my passion for storytelling, I yearn to explore themes centered on South Asian narratives, with a focus on the queer perspective. Such stories are underrepresented and I’m eager to contribute. Perhaps I’ll pen down an engaging tale, a fusion of South Asian traditions and queer experiences – something akin to a Bollywood-inspired coming-of-age story.

Starting on July 8, the Manchester Opera House played host to the opening performance of the UK and Ireland tour of & Juliet . Until October 12, Dr Ranj will take center stage during this tour’s engagements. His tenure in the production comes to an end at Wolverhampton.

In addition to the mentioned actors, Matt Cardle portrays the role of Shakespeare, Gerardine Sacdalan takes on Juliet, Lara Denning becomes Anne, Sandra Marvin is Angelique, Jack Danson acts as Romeo, and Kyle Cox plays Francois, while Jordan Broatch assumes the part of May.

Every weekday starting at 10 a.m., ITV1 and ITVX broadcast “This Morning.” You can secure tickets for the “& Juliet” tour in the United Kingdom through this link.
