Her timeless beauty is simply breathtaking – it seems the hands of time have skipped over her entirely! It feels like just yesterday when she played the iconic role of Amber Gates in Footballer’s Wives, and yet here she stands, 20 years later, looking exactly the same!
On Thursday, viewers of “This Morning” found themselves in awe of Laila Rouass’ timeless beauty, frequently describing her as stunningly attractive.
On the ITV program, the 53-year-old actress appeared alongside Josie Gibson and Craig Doyle for a discussion about her upcoming role as Ayesha in EastEnders. This character has past connections with both Nish and Suki Panesar.
However, the conversation eventually shifted towards Laila’s memorable character in the celebrated series Footballer’s Wives, where the hosts pointed out that she seems hardly any older than when she played the role of Amber Gates, the WAG.
Delighted by Laila’s youthful charm, Josie playfully remarked, “It seems like no time has passed at all! I turned to you and was struck by the realization: You haven’t changed a bit!”

Reflecting on my stint on the program, let me tell you, it was nothing short of exhilarating and over-the-top amusing! My onscreen persona was undeniably eccentric, to say the least. In fact, I might as well have been a high-strung rabbit keeping secrets! Yes, some might even label me a ‘bunny boiler’ for my enigmatic antics.
Simultaneously, the television host shared insights about her character’s part in EastEnders, which she recently joined in the latest episodes.
Laila explained that she felt overpowered when she first stepped onto the set, given her long-time admiration for the soap opera, ever since she was a young girl.
She shared: “I was born and raised in the East End, so I vividly recall the initial episode of EastEnders. Growing up, I lived beside a spot known as Arbor Square. In fact, I’ve always dreamed of being part of EastEnders; it’s been on my wish list for quite some time.”
‘I recall shooting a scene at the town square. Upon arriving and parking, I exclaimed, “If only you’d warned me we were on the Square! I needed to get ready!” It’s the Queen Victoria monument, the laundromat, everything – it’s legendary!
As a seasoned actor with some big-name films under my belt, including auditioning alongside Hugh Jackman for Wolverine, I can’t help but feel a bit perplexed by the fact that no one seems to care about my accomplishments. But hey, that’s showbiz for you! It’s all about Phil Mitchell and Lacey Turner these days, and I couldn’t be happier about it. EastEnders is where it’s at, and I wouldn’t trade my experience on this iconic British soap opera for all the Hollywood sets in the world. Here’s to many more years of bringing the drama to Walford!

Ayesha makes her way to Walford upon receiving a call from longtime resident Nish Panesar. It doesn’t take long for people to notice that she shares a past with Nish, his former spouse Suki Panesar, as well as other members of the Panesar family.
It will transpire that Ayesha knew Suki and Nish a long time ago, but they haven’t been in touch for many years.
Laila is also best known for her roles in since-cancelled soaps Holby City and Primeval.
