This “messy and compelling” London-set Netflix series that will “make viewers cry” is trending now in the UK

Too Much, the Netflix drama hailed as “messy and compelling” by Slate, is now trending in the UK.

Under the guidance of comedian and actress Megan Stalter, this 10-episode series originates from the creative brain of Lena Dunham, who is best known for creating the show “Girls”.

The series revolves around Jessica (Stalter), a heart-stricken New Yorker who relocates to London seeking love, as it delves into the ups and downs of her romance with Felix (Sharpe), a seemingly carefree musician grappling with his past.

Featuring an impressive ensemble, Stalter and Sharpe are accompanied by Emily Ratajkowski, Michael Zegen, Rhea Perlman, Rita Wilson, Andrew Scott, Richard E. Grant, Naomi Watts, and Stephen Fry in this popular comedy-drama.

At the moment, “Too Much” boasts a highly commendable 81% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, with critics praising Dunham’s writing. It ranks as the third most-watched show on Netflix UK, trailing slightly behind the record-breaking third season of “Squid Game.

According to USA Today, the show is often amusing and heartwarming, yet it can also be surprisingly sad, and it handles these varying tones seamlessly.

In a review by IndieWire, it was noted that Dunham’s newest production skillfully manages to deliver the familiar elements of a television romantic comedy while also offering something unexpected.

The Financial Times praised Dunham, stating that her exceptional ability to draw universality from personal experiences, which she meticulously mines, is what makes her exceptional. Her keen eye for detail in observation remains unwavering.

Before the debut of the series, Dunham disclosed that the storyline of “Too Much” was somewhat influenced by her actual relationship with her husband, a British and Peruvian musician named Luis Felber.

When I initially began visiting the United Kingdom for work, it crossed my mind that I wanted to pen some thoughts about the feeling of being a foreigner here, as well as the differences between the idealized vision of London and its true nature. This was shared with Tudum by Dunham.

When I encountered my partner, Luis, it was as if I was living through everything, yet now within the framework of a romantic connection.

Too Much is now available to stream on Netflix.
