This legendary TV show ended two years ago (but it's not over yet!)

As a gamer with decades of experience under my belt, I can confidently say that The Walking Dead has been a cornerstone in my entertainment journey. From its captivating storylines to its unforgettable characters, it’s hard to believe that two years have passed since we said goodbye to the original series.

Television has been a source of entertainment for over a century now. Whether it was rewatching our favorite movies on cassette tapes in the past or tuning into regular programming every night, television has always offered an escape into numerous adventures. This is one of the reasons why TV shows have become so popular as a form of entertainment.

Hey there, fellow gaming enthusiast! In today’s world, I can’t get enough of the array of series out there – from heartwarming procedurals to long-standing medical dramas. TV has become a haven for our beloved characters. Whether you’re catching them on traditional broadcast or the myriad streaming platforms that have sprung up in recent years, we can’t help but cherish these characters and their captivating storylines they’re involved in.

Occasionally, a television series emerges that becomes emblematic of its era, and now we find ourselves with many such examples. Shows like “Game of Thrones” and “Breaking Bad,” among others, have taken their place in this category. Remarkably, it’s been more than two years since another one of these influential series concluded its run.

The Walking Dead ended two years ago, already

Indeed, it’s hard to believe, but it’s been more than two years since “The Walking Dead” ended its run. This popular zombie show wrapped up on AMC (and was also streamed on AMC+) on November 20, 2022, marking the end of an epic series that spanned 11 seasons and a total of 177 episodes.

In a fitting conclusion named “Rest In Peace”, the enduring band of primary characters from the series battled against the leaders of the Commonwealth in an attempt to seize control and bring lasting tranquility to the world. They achieved this goal, at least with regards to the Commonwealth, vanquishing Pamela and surviving an onslaught of walkers that assaulted their base. However, being from The Walking Dead, there were tragic deaths during the journey, including the cherished character Rosita Espinoza, who passed away peacefully amidst her loved ones following their triumph.

The conclusion was stunningly beautiful, resolving most plotlines yet keeping a few threads open for potential future developments. Though it ended more subtly than some of its previous seasons, it remains widely acclaimed as an enduring television gem, captivating new audiences on Netflix in America and Disney Plus in Britain.

However, the storytellers of this world had not exhausted their narrative possibilities within it. On the contrary, they still harbored a wealth of tales yet to be unfolded.

The world of The Walking Dead lives on

Over time since the original The Walking Dead series concluded, its influence has expanded significantly. Beyond the initial trio of spin-off shows (Fear The Walking Dead, The Walking Dead: World Beyond, and Tales of the Walking Dead), AMC and AMC+ have commissioned additional spin-offs to further explore the unresolved storylines left by the finale.

Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan made a comeback within just a few months on The Walking Dead: Dead City, where they rekindled their feud as Maggie worked to persuade Negan into helping her rescue her son Hershel from one of his former associates in New York City. The series garnered massive popularity, breaking records for AMC+ and securing a swift renewal for its second season.

In a shift of scenery, Daryl Dixon, portrayed by Norman Reedus, ventured his brooding warrior character to France in pursuit of life. However, he swiftly found himself embarking on a new protective mission that could potentially shape the fate of humanity as we know it. This spin-off was a monumental ratings hit and received praise for its narrative, acting, cinematography, and innovative take on the TWD universe. Since then, it has been renewed for two additional seasons. Notably, the second season will see the return of Melissa McBride’s Carol Peletier, earning itself a sophisticated new title in The Book of Carol.

In the final episode of the original series, there was a hint that Andrew Lincoln and Danai Gurira would reprise their roles as Rick Grimes and Michonne. This happened in a six-part miniseries called “The Walking Dead: The Ones Who Live“. This series, highly praised for its performances on AMC and AMC+, aimed to conclude their long-running story of searching for each other. Additionally, it aimed to reunite them with their family.

It might come as a surprise, but two years ago, the ending of The Walking Dead marked the start of a fresh chapter in the TWD Universe’s tale-spinning journey. With upcoming seasons of Dead City and Daryl Dixon on the horizon (and possibly more), it’s an exhilarating period for fans of this iconic series.

Even two years later, The Walking Dead lives!
