Okay, so I just started watching this new show on Netflix called The Crystal Cuckoo, and it’s seriously gripping! Everyone’s saying it’s totally wild, and I can see why. It’s a six-episode Spanish series based on a book by Javier Castillo, and I’m already hooked.
So, the game puts you in the shoes of Clara Merlo, a new doctor who basically dies and gets a second chance at life with a heart transplant. It’s a pretty wild starting point, and it really sets the stage for everything that happens next.
Once Clara had recovered from her surgery, she became curious about the person who donated her new heart. When she traveled to his village, she discovered he was connected to a past tragedy.
What to Read Next
With the village shaken by yet another disappearance – the eleventh in three decades – the main character begins to learn unsettling things about what happened in the past.
The trailer suggests Clara finds herself caught up in strange, unsettling rituals reminiscent of the film The Wicker Man. It also implies that Clara’s organ donor, Carlos, was getting close to solving the mystery behind a series of disappearances – including his own father, Miguel.

The cast also includes Itziar Ituño, known for her role in Money Heist, and Ivan Massagué from The Platform, as well as Álex García, Alfons Nieto, and Tomás del Estal.
From the creators of the Netflix adaptation of The Snow Girl, The Crystal Cuckoo is a new, suspenseful series based on a novel by the same Spanish author. Jesús Mesas and Javier Andrés Roig are behind this latest twisty mystery.
When the trailer dropped, fans immediately reacted with excitement. One called the new series from Javier Castillo “mind-bending,” predicting it would be a thrilling ride, while others described it as both “intriguing” and “genuinely good.”

A new drama, The Beast in Me, featuring a well-known cast, has also become available on the streaming service.
The show features Claire Danes as Aggie Wiggs, a celebrated author who withdrew from public life after the tragic loss of her son.
Aggie, a writer, becomes intrigued when Nile Jarvis (Matthew Rhys), a wealthy real estate developer and the main suspect in his wife’s disappearance, becomes her new neighbor, and decides to make him the subject of her next book.

Still struggling with her own sadness, Aggie finds herself drawn into Nile’s mysterious world, determined to uncover the truth – even if it means putting her life in danger as she plays a risky detective game.
In addition to the main cast, Brittany Snow plays Nile’s wife, Nina, and Natalie Morales appears as Shelley, Aggie’s former wife.
The Crystal Cuckoo is available to stream now on Netflix.
