A video of Brooklyn Beckham making a breakfast sandwich has become a viral sensation, but not for the right reasons. People on social media are playfully criticizing his cooking skills.
David and Victoria Beckham’s oldest son has recently resurfaced online after publicly claiming his parents were overly controlling of his life.
You know, it’s fascinating to watch things come full circle! Remember that photography book everyone used to tease him about? Well, it’s suddenly become quite valuable. And now, a clip from one of his old morning show cooking segments is popping up everywhere – it’s a real moment for his work!
In 2021, 21-year-old Brooklyn appeared on the Today show to share his take on a classic English breakfast sandwich. He described his ‘recipe’ – bacon, sausage, and a fried egg on plain white bread – as something he’d learned from his great-grandmother.
The video is circulating widely online again, and many viewers are reacting negatively to it. Some are calling it embarrassing, while others are criticizing the chef featured, with one person calling his actions ‘laughable’.
A moment that really disturbed viewers then, and still does now, was when he cracked the egg yolks using only his fingers.
People on X, formerly Twitter, expressed strong disapproval, saying it’s embarrassing to praise someone like Brooklyn for something so simple. They compared it to excessively complimenting a young child for making a basic sandwich.
When I was ten, I used to make a proper fried breakfast for my family – with actually fried bread, not this pale imitation. It’s pretty funny to hear this from someone who calls himself a chef. I’d have a little more respect for him if he’d put in the effort to master something he was truly passionate about.
I found the part about putting bacon on a paper towel-lined plate particularly amusing, especially the way it was done. Also, using his fingers to break the egg yolk definitely wasn’t a chef-like move.
It feels like they’re treating me like a child, but it’s honestly hilarious. I can’t believe this is actually happening!
‘Is this a wind up? The thing you make when you can’t be a**ed thinking about what you want…’;
Seriously, is there a ten-year-old anywhere who doesn’t know how to make a simple egg and bacon sandwich on white bread? It seems like such a basic skill!
Does anyone else recall him objecting to the term ‘TV chef,’ pointing out that he genuinely cooks in a real kitchen?
Brooklyn shared that he discovered his love for cooking during the pandemic. He started making videos of his recipes on Instagram, and then showed Hoda Kotb and Carson Daly how to make one of his signature sandwiches.
The Today show hosts liked the simple recipe, but many viewers were upset that such an easy dish was featured on the show, calling the segment ’embarrassing’ and ‘painful’.
Brooklyn began the segment by talking about his dad David’s passion for food, then enthusiastically described his ‘favorite’ cast-iron skillet, which already held cooked sausages and bacon.
He mentioned his passion for cooking really grew during the quarantine period. He started sharing videos of his recipes on Instagram, which helped him develop his skills.
‘I’ve always loved food and obviously when quarantine hit I just really started to get into it,’ he explained.
Nicola, my fiancée, and I started a fun thing where she films me, and I share the videos online. I really enjoy it!
While making a sandwich, he shared a couple of his cooking tricks. He cuts his sausages lengthwise to ensure they cook all the way through, and he gently pokes the egg yolks with his finger to help them solidify instead of remaining runny.
Although Brooklyn was on the show to demonstrate his cooking, he didn’t cook the meat for the sandwich from scratch. He used pre-cooked bacon and sausages, but he did fry the eggs while on air.
The segment, which lasted two and a half minutes, ended with Brooklyn arranging his already-cooked meat onto a slice of plain white bread – no butter or toast involved.
He finished the dish by adding fried eggs, a large dollop of ketchup, and another slice of bread.
As a food lover, I’m always excited to share simple recipes with a heartwarming story! I recently shared with the Today show how to make my go-to English breakfast sandwich. It’s extra special to me because the recipe has been passed down through my family – all the way from my great-grandmother! It’s a truly comforting dish, and I love being able to recreate a piece of my family history in the kitchen.
He shared that the recipe came from his great-grandmother and holds special meaning because it brings back childhood memories. It’s a classic English breakfast sandwich, and he enjoys introducing his American friends to it.
The video is gaining attention again as copies of Brooklyn’s previously criticized book, ‘What I See,’ are now selling for around £300, a significant price increase.
The book, which cost £17, received harsh criticism upon its release nine years ago due to blurry photos and simple, almost childish, captions. This negative reception led Brooklyn to give up on his dream of being a photographer and pursue a career as a chef.
After receiving negative reviews and being labeled a self-indulgent effort, the book sold only about 3,800 copies between June and October of 2017.
This photo book features around 300 somewhat out-of-focus pictures of the eighteen-year-old and his family, capturing moments from glamorous parties and lavish vacations.
In one photo, all you can see are the tips of Brooklyn’s shoes as he dangerously leans over the edge of a sixteen-story building to capture a stunning aerial view.
He captioned the black and white photo with: ‘Don’t try this yourself! My parents were furious when they saw it, but it’s a pretty cool picture.’
