A new Japanese role-playing game (JRPG) is currently available for free on Steam and has received very positive reviews (9/10). Once you claim it, it’s yours to keep and play whenever you want. Steam has had a fantastic year for free games, with many excellent titles becoming available, though some are lesser-known. Recently, two more free games were added to the platform, giving players even more options to build their game collection.
A new game, Metal Hunter, is now available on Steam and players are enjoying it! Released on March 6th, this free-to-keep indie JRPG combines traditional role-playing gameplay with the excitement of tanks. Once you redeem it, it’s yours to download and play whenever you want, as long as it’s still on Steam.
Metal Hunter Is Old-School All The Way
Control Humans & Tanks In This JRPG
Okay, so I just started playing Metal Hunter, and it’s a really cool throwback to old-school JRPGs, even though the setup is a little different than I expected. The graphics are all pixel art, which I love, and you actually control both human characters and tanks! We’re running around a ruined wasteland, hunting down monsters and bad guys. The combat is classic turn-based, so it feels super familiar and satisfying. It’s a neat mix of everything I enjoy in a retro RPG.
In this game, you’ll build a team of Metal Hunters who pilot tanks and complete missions across a vast world. The developer noted on the Steam page that Metal Hunter is a unique experiment inspired by Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPGs). Originally started as a project in 2012, it was put aside and then revisited, which explains why it’s available as a free game instead of a paid one.
If You’re Looking For A New JRPG, This Could Be It
Metal Hunter Is Inspired By The Genre
Metal Hunter is an RPG similar to early Final Fantasy games. If you enjoy Final Fantasy or RPGs in general, this new Steam game is a great choice, particularly because it’s free to play. With a 93% positive rating on Steam, it’s definitely worth a look.
While the platform has many free games, it can be hard to find the really good ones. Metal Hunter is a great example of a hidden gem that deserves more attention, and fans of Japanese Role-Playing Games (JRPGs) can enjoy it for free on Steam.
