What to Read Next

In 1946 London, the vibrant, risky, and unpredictable city serves as the captivating backdrop for this fresh detective series. The charismatic and clever Gabriel Book takes center stage in the narrative: he’s a rule-breaking consultant detective who works closely with local law enforcement.

In simpler terms, the numerous books filling his store offer him enough information to tackle even the trickiest mysteries or crimes.

Although “Bookish” has recently debuted on streaming platforms and television, its future is secure as UKTV announced in May that the detective series will return for a second season.

Gatiss, the creator of the ‘Bookish’ series, expressed his excitement as U&Alibi’s team grants him the opportunity to revisit the world of ‘Bookish’ and devise even more intricate mysteries for Gabriel Book and his team to unravel,” said so in a statement.

As the creator behind this exciting new detective drama (co-written with Matthew Sweet), I’m absolutely thrilled and can hardly contain my excitement for when our world unfolds on screen in a couple of months. I truly believe viewers will lose themselves in it!

As a gamer, I’d put it this way: Besides the previously mentioned actors, the crew for Bookish features Polly Walker, Joely Richardson, Blake Harrison, Elliot Levey, and Connor Finch. Interestingly, Connor Finch is cast as Gabriel’s assistant, and there might be something more than meets the eye in his role.

Bookish airs on U&Alibi at 8pm and streams on U.

The latest print issue from Digital Spy, featuring “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is available! You can purchase it at your local newsstands or online for only £8.99.
