Third I’m A Celebrity contestant arrives in Australia ahead of the ITV show launch

Hey everyone! Just a quick update from the jungle camp – things are really starting to heat up! Shona McGarty, who you might recognize from EastEnders, has officially arrived in Brisbane, making her the third celebrity to land ahead of ‘I’m A Celebrity…’ kicking off next Sunday. It’s getting so close now – I can’t wait to see how it all unfolds!

The 34-year-old actress, known for her role as Whitney Dean on the BBC soap opera from 2008 to 2024, was seen wearing a bright pink shirt, black bike shorts, and a baseball cap.

She wasn’t wearing her engagement ring, fueling speculation about her breakup with fiancé David Bracken. When asked what she’d miss about the UK, she responded bluntly, ‘Not much.’

Shona playfully told the Daily Mail she’d mistakenly boarded the wrong plane, responding to a question about why she was in Australia. Contestants aren’t supposed to publicly confirm they’re participating in the ITV show, so she offered this lighthearted explanation.

She continued: ‘I’m going to have to ask for directions back now.

‘I really want to see a kangaroo, I’ve never seen one in my life.’

She arrived at Brisbane Airport after being seen at Heathrow on Saturday. She joined Kelly Brook and Lisa Riley, who had both arrived in Australia on Sunday.

Shona chose a black bodysuit with a vibrant pink shirt for her trip to the airport, and she had new nails decorated with playful bug designs, getting ready to encounter insects in the jungle.

After rumors surfaced last month about a breakup between Shona and David, her engagement ring was no longer visible on her finger. The couple had gotten engaged just over a year ago when David proposed in Holland Park, London.

Another contestant, Morgan Burtwistle – known as Angry Ginge on the show – was spotted at Manchester airport, traveling to Brisbane.

The 23-year-old Twitch streamer and YouTuber checked in for his flight at the Emirates First Class counter.

I noticed Shona posted something really powerful after the news about her and David broke – she talked about refusing to change who she is to please anyone else. It felt like a clear message about staying true to herself, even through a tough time, and honestly, I admire her for it.

On Friday, she posted a black and white video to Instagram showing herself putting on makeup. She accompanied the video with a long caption featuring lyrics from her new song, which she said represented ‘finally being herself’ and starting a ‘new beginning’.

She shared that she’s finally embracing her true self, without trying to hide or change to please anyone else. She’s letting go of the need to apologize for who she is and is no longer holding back.

I’m starting fresh, ready to embrace life with positivity and an open mind. For too long, I’ve doubted myself, held back, and tried to be someone I wasn’t.

Now, it’s about truly being myself – feeling comfortable and confident, embracing my experiences, and expressing myself boldly, flaws and all. This is what it feels like to start living life to the fullest, genuinely and honestly.

‘From here on out, …I’m .. “unapologetically me”.’

Earlier this month, reports surfaced that the former couple had ended their engagement amicably and are still friendly with each other.
