They’re Not Who You Think They Are: Lawrence Brothers Reveal Shocking Secret

On Friday, Matthew Lawrence (age 45), together with his siblings Joey (age 48) and Andrew (age 37), graced the event at the 90s convention held in Hartford, Connecticut.

In a heart-to-heart chat, I got the scoop on how they made their way into the spotlight, and guess what? Lawrence isn’t even their birth surname! It’s fascinating to learn about their journey.

The brothers also wish they could change it back as its caused issues with passports and taxes.

Joey clarified that his middle name is actually Lawrence, as his complete legal name is Joseph Lawrence Mignogna, he shared this during a discussion led by People.

Joey mentioned that he shares the same name with our father and his paternal grandfather. He shared this background info because when he first started out in the early ’80s, he was advised that “Mignogna” is difficult for people to pronounce, making it an unpopular choice as a name.

He stated, “Nowadays, similar events are honored.” In the 80s, it seemed more like, “We might have to tone this down a bit. It has subtle ‘G’ sounds that aren’t pronounced.

Joey’s parents made the decision to use his middle name for his last name.

It was quite logical that when Matthew and Andrew joined the acting profession, they would also make use of the name Lawrence.

There was a benefit to that for the young stars, Matthew explained. 

In my expertise, we’ve carefully designed our living space to ensure a high level of privacy and security – a hidden gem, so to speak. While some may resort to traditional methods of tracking, locating us would be an incredibly challenging task. This clandestine aspect, I must say, adds significantly to the allure of our lifestyle.

However, he said, ‘Now I’m just stuck with two different names and I can’t travel internationally.’

All of the brothers agreed that they wish they could go back to their real name. 

Andrew remarked, “If it had been simpler, it would have been better.” He was being frank when he said it’s quite inconvenient, much like having two names. It means having to verify your identity twice.

Matthew mentioned, ‘For a period, the authorities acknowledged me as Matt Lawrence due to my regular tax payments since I was a young child up until I turned 18 under that name.’

He clarified that his true name is Matthew William Mignogna. When he adopted this name for his passport during adulthood, it turned out there was no connection at all. In essence, he seemed like a non-existent person.

Joey made his debut in the entertainment industry by starring on the TV series “Blossom,” which aired during the 1990s and continued for five consecutive seasons from 1990.

Matthew garnered recognition for his performances in the 1993 film, Mrs. Doubtfire, and the television series, Boy Meets World, where he played the character Jack Hunter.

Andres made a breakthrough by playing a role in the TV sitcom “Brotherly Love,” which aired from 1995 to 1997 and featured his siblings as co-stars.

This past summer, Matthew shared details about his short-lived experience using the celebrity dating app Raya following his divorce from Dancing with the Stars’ Cheryl Burke.

He shared with his brothers during their podcast “Brotherly Love” on August 23rd that only Rumer Willis, due to our past conversations, could confirm it, since she was the one directly involved.

Demi Moore and Bruce Willis’s daughter found his Game of Thrones reptilian-themed biography distasteful.

‘For a brief spell, she was also on it while she was unattached. Believe me, I’m not joking about this — and she chuckled at my “father of dragons” profile description.’

Matthew clarified, “What I’m saying is absolutely accurate. For approximately three weeks, I was using the dating app Raya, all in good fun,” he added.

‘I happened to know somebody because you have to be invited, you can’t just sign up.’

He added, ‘I encountered only Rumer there, and she found amusement in me being labeled as “the father of dragons”. It was quite humorous.’

His brothers didn’t believe him for a second and Andy picked up his phone to text Rumer.

In the end, it seemed uncertain whether the encounter transpired as planned, since Rumer, aged 36, failed to reply before the episode concluded. This left his brothers in a state of curiosity.
