There’s only one way to stream I Know What You Did Last Summer before the new movie

This week, “The Fisherman” returns to movie theaters, as the timeless ’90s horror film “I Know What You Did Last Summer” is given a follow-up in the tradition of legacy sequels.

In the typical fashion of these sequels, Jennifer Love Hewitt and Freddie Prinze Jr return to their roles as survivors Julie James and Ray Bronson, while Sarah Michelle Gellar’s character, Helen Shivers, unfortunately will not be making a return from the grave.

Watching the original series before the upcoming movie might be incentive enough for some, as they eagerly await the sequel. However, it appears there’s an additional motivation for revisiting the earlier films.

What to Read Next

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Hewitt explained that the climactic finale of the upcoming film requires understanding of the preceding incidents, as it was described as a “major move” during their conversation.

She hinted that reflecting on the finale and re-watching previous films prior to filming this latest one, it all seems logical.

However, it seems challenging to re-watch the series if you haven’t got the DVDs since they are not currently accessible for streaming in the UK or USA as of now.

To catch up on the earlier films, you’ll need to purchase or lease them via your chosen video streaming platforms.

For those residing in the UK, you can either purchase or rent “I Know What You Did Last Summer” on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Microsoft Store, and other providers.

You can purchase or rent the direct sequel titled “I Still Know What You Did Last Summer” featuring Julie and Ray on platforms like Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Microsoft Store, and many more.

If you aim for completeness in your viewing, there’s another film titled “I’ll Always Know What You Did Last Summer” from 2006. This film isn’t linked with the initial two movies, making it unlikely that watching it is crucial before the upcoming movie.

At the moment, it has a zero-star rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but if you’re still interested in watching it, you can purchase or rent it through Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Microsoft Store, and several other platforms.

Additionally, there’s a television show titled “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” which shares the same name with two other entries in this series. This is similar to “Scream” (with two films and a TV show) and “Halloween” (with three movies), where multiple works share the same title.

The show only ran for a single season, but if you’re a Prime Video subscriber, you can still catch up with it anytime.

Just as the third film introduced a fresh group of characters and didn’t link back to the initial film except for the theme, we wouldn’t expect much similarity between the upcoming movie and the old one.

I Know What You Did Last Summer is released in cinemas on 18 July.

The latest print edition from Digital Spy, titled “Oasis – Live in ’25”, is available for purchase! You can find it at your local newsstands or conveniently online, currently retailing for only £8.99.
