Strictly Come Dancing contestant Thomas Skinner‘s outspoken posts on social media have upset BBC executives, according to sources close to the show.

The Apprentice star’s Strictly signing has been marred in controversy since his name was announced.

He recently left a press conference abruptly, and his involvement has been complicated by his admission of infidelity towards his wife, Sinead, shortly after their marriage.

He’s faced criticism online for attending a barbeque hosted by JD Vance, a close ally of former US President Donald Trump. He later described the event as a rare and unforgettable experience.

He’s facing backlash for comments on social media where he defended displays of national pride and expressed concerns about safety in London, describing the city as unwelcoming and strained.

Sources say that Strictly Come Dancing producers are now facing a difficult situation because of the contestant’s recent activity on social media.

Because he isn’t a BBC employee, there’s little the BBC can do about what he posts on social media, beyond requesting his management team to address it – and even they may choose not to.

However, a source close to the show believes Thomas probably won’t be eliminated quickly, explaining that viewers often enjoy watching controversial contestants, especially in the beginning.

They also believe pairing him with a popular professional dancer on Strictly will help him succeed.

According to a source, he doesn’t seem to be in immediate danger of being eliminated and might even last a long time. The source also believes the support Amy is receiving will be a significant advantage for him.

Following his first appearance on Strictly Come Dancing on Saturday, Thomas took to X (formerly Twitter) to defend himself. He stated he wouldn’t be ‘cancelled’ and that his marriage is solid, despite recently admitting to infidelity just weeks after marrying his wife in 2022.
