There's no episode 8 of Disclaimer, season 2 is unlikely

As a binge-watching connoisseur with over a decade of TV-viewing under my belt, I must say that Apple TV+’s Disclaimer has undeniably left its mark this year. The series, which concluded all too swiftly on Nov. 8, is a testament to the power of quality storytelling in a world where quantity often overshadows it.

It seems that Apple TV+’s show, Disclaimer, is highly acclaimed as one of the top shows of the year. However, many fans seem to be perplexed about the number of episodes in the series. Devoted viewers either stayed up late on November 14th to watch episode 8 or tuned in early this morning. Regrettably, episode 7, not episode 8, marked the end of this limited series.

It appears that this year, many shows, especially streaming series, have opted for an unusual number of episodes, deviating from the traditional 10-episode season. Some seasons are shorter while others consist of seven, eight, or nine episodes. While I firmly believe in prioritizing quality over quantity, it’s undeniable that this trend can lead to a bit of confusion.

Spoilers ahead if you have not yet watched all seven episodes of Disclaimer.

In the psychological thriller series “Disclaimer” on Apple TV+, the seventh and final episode aired last Friday, November 8th. This series successfully concluded Catherine Ravenscroft’s (played by Cate Blanchett) narrative as the truth was finally revealed. Robert (portrayed by Sacha Baron Cohen) apologized to Catherine, but her forgiveness was somewhat hesitant. Although she acknowledged his actions, she couldn’t fully pardon him for not standing by her side. Consequently, they chose to part ways and get a divorce.

Catherine and her son Nicholas (Kodi Smit-McPhee) manage to mend their relationship, which is what ultimately counts. However, I can’t help but ponder if Stephen Brigstocke (Kevin Kline) faced any consequences for his actions. I suspect not. Apart from that one query, there are no unresolved issues, so we did receive a satisfying resolution to the story.

Disclaimer season 2 is unlikely

Because the story wrapped up effectively in its first season, it seems unlikely we’ll see a second one. Moreover, Apple TV+ initially presented Disclaimer as a miniseries, implying only one season. While exceptions do occur with “miniseries” and “limited series,” this show appears to stick to the single-season format.
