There's a lot of story left between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns

As a lifelong wrestling enthusiast who has watched countless hours of WWE and other promotions, I must say that the storyline between Roman Reigns and Seth Rollins is one for the ages. It’s a tale of friendship turned bitter rivalry, with twists and turns that keep fans on the edge of their seats. The catalyst for this epic saga was that fateful night in 2014 when Rollins betrayed The Shield, and it has shaped both men’s careers ever since.

Storytelling is a major part of both professional wrestling and sports entertainment. It’s the dramatic part that gets fans tuning in every week and paying money to attend shows. It’s the same hook that captures fans of video games, comic books, movies, and more. WWE has told an interesting story about Roman Reigns for much of the last four years. Even though it has experienced both highs and lows, it’s clear that the arc surrounding The Tribal Chief has been the most important in WWE. It is leading into its next phase as WWE Survivor Series WarGames 2024 approaches. It also involves Seth Rollins, perhaps the most important figure in the Roman Reigns story.

The character and actions of The Tribal Chief can all be traced back to a specific event: June 2, 2014. On this fateful night, Seth Rollins viciously attacked both Reigns and Jon Moxley with a steel chair, marking the beginning of the end for The Shield. Although the trio reunited several times afterward, that violent act served as the catalyst for Reigns’ transformation into his manipulative, gaslighting, and intimidating persona that has caused havoc in the WWE for the past four years. While Rollins is often referred to as “The Visionary,” it’s worth noting that he played a crucial role in one of the most significant character shifts in sports entertainment history.

After a decade since Rollins left The Shield, the storyline now brings these two back as allies. Reigns requires assistance in dealing with the latest iteration of The Bloodline, while Rollins is determined to capture Bronson Reed no matter what. However, the climax of this narrative will unfold when Rollins and Reigns confront each other. Rollins has openly expressed his disdain for everything Reigns represents, despite contributing to his transformation into a monster. With just days left before the PLE, everyone is eagerly anticipating their encounter.

In this chapter of the Bloodline saga, Reigns faces the repercussions of his past deeds. For years, he’s caused distress to The Usos, Sami Zayn, and Paul Heyman, and if he intends to rely on “the family” for WarGames and beyond, he must offer apologies to them all. However, things are different with Rollins. Despite Rollins being a significant adversary who reigned supreme in Reigns’s world, even as a dominant champion, Rollins is the one opponent Reigns couldn’t conquer. It was Rollins’s actions at WrestleMania 40 that ultimately stripped Reigns of the WWE Undisputed Championship. Reigns has harbored intense hostility towards Rollins due to his role in dismantling The Shield a decade ago. But let’s ponder a situation where Reigns finds forgiveness for what Rollins did. How would that impact both their characters?

That is the question that will deliver for Survivor Series: WarGames and for months to come after. The Bloodline Angle is winding down, with WrestleMania 41 seemingly prepped to be the final showdown between Roman Reigns and The Rock. But there’s still much to tell between Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns. That’s the angle that fans should be excited to see next.
