There won’t be any more episodes of The Equalizer in 2024 (when is the show back?)
As a devoted fan of The Equalizer, I can’t help but feel a mix of emotions as we approach the holiday season without our favorite Sunday night drama. The winter finale was a rollercoaster ride that left us on the edge of our seats, and now, the wait for more episodes seems interminable. But fear not, fellow fans! Our patience will be rewarded, for The Equalizer is set to return on February 16, 2025.
The fifth season’s winter finale of “The Equalizer” was broadcast on December 8th, Sunday. This implies that no fresh episodes will air for the remainder of 2024; however, here’s some positive news: we have a return date confirmed for the show!
I’ve got to say, that last episode was indeed the winter finale – and CBS did a good job reminding us with their promos. But let’s face it, not everyone is as diligent about keeping up. Some of us prefer to wait for a stack of episodes before diving in!
Unfortunately, Robyn, Dante, and Miles didn’t spend Christmas with joy as they found themselves in a perilous situation. A cartel had taken them hostage in the hospital during the winter finale, putting their lives at risk. While we won’t reveal any spoilers here, there were certainly some intense events that transpired! It was an engaging episode to bring a close to the series airing in 2024.
When will The Equalizer season 5 return with new episodes?
Most shows are scheduled to resume in January, but this doesn’t apply to CBS’s Sunday evening dramas. Instead, the fifth season of “The Equalizer” will premiere with fresh episodes on February 16th.
It’s understandable that we’re postponing our return, as there are numerous events scheduled on Sundays in January 2025, such as NFL Playoff games, award shows, and other activities. In the past, CBS has attempted to air shows during Sundays in January, but this has led to preemptions and an unpredictable schedule. Therefore, it’s more practical for us to wait until after Super Bowl weekend.
That’s what it’s doing here. We’ll get The Equalizer back the first Sunday after the Super Bowl.
There is a time change for The Equalizer
Something to keep in mind is that The Equalizer is moving to a later time. Tracker will continue to take the 8 p.m. ET/PT timeslot, and then we’ll get the new series Watson, which is set to be a mixture of detective and medical drama. After that, new episodes of The Equalizer will air, putting it in the 10 p.m. ET/PT timeslot.
This time slot presents some challenges. Many shows in the past have struggled here before ultimately getting canceled, but we’re keeping our fingers crossed that this won’t be the fate of “The Equalizer.” However, there are several factors working against its renewal, such as it being produced by Sony and the show’s high production costs. This series is teetering on the edge, and we’re concerned about its future prospects.
The Equalizer will return on Sunday, Feb. 16 at 10/9c on CBS. Catch up on the series on Paramount+.
