There isn’t a new episode of NCIS season 22 in 2024 (but there is some good news)

As a dedicated NCIS fan who has been on this rollercoaster for what feels like eternity, I must say, the news about the winter finale airing already is bittersweet. On one hand, it means we’re closer to new episodes, but on the other, it means another long wait. But hey, at least it’s not as bad as ABC taking until March!

As we approach the end of the year, it’s time to bid farewell to our beloved shows on TV. Unfortunately, CBS has pushed back many winter finales towards Christmas, but there’s some disappointing news for fans of NCIS. The last episode of 2024 for this series has already been broadcasted.

For now, let’s take a short pause. It’s not our first choice, but it’s essential for the success of the series in the long run.

When will NCIS season 22 return with new episodes

Great news! You won’t have to wait much longer for the next episode of NCIS season 22. Most CBS shows will resume in January, and it looks like NCIS is among the first to come back, airing on Monday, Jan. 27.

Indeed, our broadcast might seem a bit delayed compared to others, but keep in mind ABC is taking a break with certain programs till March. In comparison, CBS shows have just recently taken a winter hiatus, making the wait for their return shorter.

Great news! The show will keep its 9 p.m. ET/PT time, as it’s been doing great ratings for the main NCIS series.

Why is NCIS going on a break?

Apart from CBS, several other television series are currently on hiatus or preparing for one this week due to the winter break season. As more households opt for spending quality time together, away from the television, it’s common to see a decrease in live TV viewership during this period. This trend impacts not only current shows but also influences the future of programming as well.

Additionally, there’s a pause in filming, during which the cast and crew get some rest. This results in fewer episodes available for viewers. Instead of filming continuously through winter and having a break in winter months like January or February, these shows opt to take their break during this season and resume production again in January, when people tend to spend less time outdoors.
