‘There is a magic when you find the right person’: Harry Styles reveals his five year plan to get married and start a family after watching three friends exchange vows – as romance with Zoë Kravitz goes from strength to strength

After seeing three of his close friends get married, Harry Styles realized he needed to seriously think about his own future and where he wanted to be in five years. He described this as having a truly honest conversation with himself.

The 32-year-old singer discussed the isolating side of being famous and explained that he stepped away from music for three years to figure out his priorities.

Harry Styles shared in a recent interview on Apple Music with Zane Lowe that he’s hoping to get married and have a family. This comes as his relationship with actress Zoë Kravitz, 37, continues to blossom.

Harry shared that he needed a break from making music after finishing his extensive Love On Tour in 2023. The tour included 169 performances over two years.

You know, one of the things I swear by for a fresh start is a complete reset. I literally stop all my commitments and activities. Then, and only then, do I thoughtfully decide what truly deserves a place in my life again. It’s about intentionally choosing what I want to bring back in, focusing on what really matters.

As someone who follows this artist closely, I’ve noticed that with constant touring and a relentless schedule, it feels like they don’t really have the breathing room to make deliberate choices about their work. It’s like they’re just swept up in the momentum, and there’s no space for thoughtful consideration.

I took some time to seriously think about what I want my life to be like in five years, and then figured out what steps I need to take to get there. I don’t want to end up alone and regret not pursuing my goals.

I’m striving for a meaningful life filled with strong connections – close friendships, a loving family, and a general sense of fulfillment. Recognizing that these things don’t just appear on their own, I’ve started focusing on what steps I need to take to make them a reality and create the space for them in my life.

Harry went on to talk the importance of building a future with the ‘right person’.

Last September, photos surfaced of Zoe and Harry with Zoe’s father, Lenny, leading people to believe their relationship was becoming more committed.

He explained that being with the right person means they challenge you to become your best self. While understanding someone’s flaws is good, he emphasized the importance of having a partner who inspires you to grow and improve.

‘So when you challenge me on something. It’s a gift to me, actually.’ 

Seeing his friends get married gave Harry a fresh perspective, which inspired his new song, “American Girls.” The song will be featured on his fourth studio album, “Kiss All the Time. Disco, Occasionally.”

He described the song as surprisingly lonely, explaining that it reminded him of watching his three closest friends get married.

Seeing them take a chance on something meaningful, even if it wasn’t immediately glamorous or impressive like a wedding, was really inspiring. It actually made me realize how much fun it is being single!

The show ‘American Girls’ is really about seeing these women find their partners and get married. It captures that special feeling you get when you meet someone you truly connect with.

‘But I think watching them do that.

‘It’s like being truly vulnerable with someone, like sharing a life with someone like that. 

I’ve been doing a lot of thinking lately, and it’s amazing what happens when you finally take a step back and really look at your life. I realized I needed to ask myself what I truly want, not just what’s always been around me. It’s tough though – it’s hard to focus on what matters when you don’t create some space for it first.
