As a dedicated Chicago PD fan who has been following this gripping series for years, I must say that the news of no new episodes tonight and the extended hiatus until 2025 is indeed disheartening. It feels like an endless winter, but we’ve weathered these storms before, haven’t we?
Unfortunately for Chicago PD fans everywhere, there won’t be a fresh episode airing tonight, specifically on December 4th. In fact, the whole One Chicago lineup has taken a break tonight.
Sadly, it appears there will be no fresh installments of Chicago PD in 2024. However, you might catch some re-runs occasionally on the channel. But rest assured, the series will make its comeback officially only in 2025.
Last Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving week marked the broadcast of the autumn finale. This is earlier than usual as per recent trends, however, the scheduling returns to its pre-pandemic state. Traditionally, we’ve had a prolonged break during winter.
When will Chicago PD return with new episodes?
Excitingly, NBC has announced the return dates for January. One of the first shows coming back in the New Year is “Chicago PD”. The 9th episode of season 12 will be aired on Wednesday, January 8th at its regular time of 10 p.m. ET/PT. Following this will be fresh episodes of “Chicago Med” and “Chicago Fire”.
Previously, Intelligence was in a state of disarray. The team discovered that Torres had a relationship with Gloria, and it was revealed that Burgess was aware of this, which raises concerns about their professional futures. It’s illegal for an agent to sleep with a confidential informant, and such actions could lead to Torres losing his job or even facing arrest. Similarly, if Burgess continues to hide this secret, she may face imprisonment as well.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that Voight himself was part of the team’s decision to conceal the matter. They chose to handle the situation discretely. However, Deputy Chief Reid is privy to the truth, and he can undoubtedly leverage this knowledge against Voight when necessary.
What to expect when Chicago PD returns
When the series resumes, it’s likely that Reid will lean on some connections for help. These connections seem to be linked with illicit activities, considering Voight’s history of bending rules for his squad, it’s plausible that he might do the same for others.
Nevertheless, Intelligence is dealing with a situation unrelated to Reid. Two young women have been abducted, and their captors are threatening to keep them unless a ransom is paid. With the clock ticking, Voight realizes they’re in a desperate race to rescue these girls, and he won’t hesitate to employ any means necessary.
