Theo James shared a preview of what viewers can anticipate in the second season of The Gentlemen, coming to Netflix next year.
The 40-year-old actor stars as Eddie Halstead, an aristocrat whose life is turned upside down when a shocking family secret is revealed, turning his estate into a center for unexpected criminal activity.
The popular comedy drama quickly became one of the platform’s biggest successes in 2024, racking up an impressive 44 million views within its first four weeks.
I’m so excited! Guy Ritchie started filming the second season of the show back in June, right here in London, and it looked absolutely incredible – tons of action! We’re going to have to wait until 2026 to see it on the streaming service, but I already know it’s going to be worth it.
Theo recently shared some early details about the next installment in an interview with The Times.
We aimed to expand on the success of the first season, creating a more expansive and intense world.

‘It’s still comedic, hopefully, but I think it’s a little richer in terms of the story.’
Theo and his wife, Irish actress Ruth Kearney, have two children: a four-year-old daughter and a two-year-old son.
During the interview, he shared how becoming a father transformed his perspective. He admitted it might sound cliché, but having children helped him become more grounded, as he understood there were things in life far more significant than his own intense focus.
Alongside Matthew McConaughey, the film features Vinnie Jones as the tough-guy Geoffrey Seacombe and Kaya Scodelario as Susie Glass, the daughter of Ray Winstone’s character.
Hugh Bonneville, famous for his role as Robert Crawley in the ITV series Downton Abbey, will also be appearing in the new season.
According to The Sun, details about Hugh’s character are being kept secret. A source revealed that his new role is central to the storyline of the show’s second season.
It’s unexpected to see an actor known for gentle roles in shows like Downton Abbey and the Paddington films take on a part in a gritty gangster movie.
He has a striking new appearance, largely due to his full grey hair and bold black glasses.
The Gentlemen is adapted from the 2019 movie of the same title, which featured Matthew McConaughey, Michelle Dockery, and Hugh Grant.

The first season’s story centers around Eddie, who unexpectedly inherits his family’s estate only to find it’s secretly the base of a large-scale marijuana operation, run by people who aren’t planning on leaving.
The show features a talented cast, including Daniel Ings, Joely Richardson, Joshua McGuire, Edward Fox, and Giancarlo Esposito.
After the show’s first season, many viewers went to Rotten Tomatoes to share their positive feedback.
It has received 75 per cent on the Tomatometer and 83 per cent on the Popcornmeter.
Meanwhile one said on IMBD: ‘The best thing Netflix has produced in a very long time.’
This show is fantastic and feels like an instant classic! It’s great to see Guy Ritchie working on a series, and it’s structured brilliantly – almost like eight separate, amazing films all rolled into one.
I was completely hooked on this show! It’s hilarious and unpredictable, with a fantastic group of actors. Theo James is perfect in his role – I even thought he’d be a great James Bond, particularly after the second episode.
I’m completely captivated by Kaya Scodelario – she’s absolutely phenomenal as the tough and determined Susie Glass. What really makes this show so good, though, is the cast’s incredible comedic timing. They’re all hilarious, and it makes everything so much more enjoyable to watch!
I’m a huge fan of Guy Ritchie’s films! He’s had a few that didn’t quite hit the mark, but generally, I think he makes really great movies.
This is fantastic! The movie smoothly shifts from calm to intense action with a perfect rhythm. Guy Ritchie has done it again – he consistently delivers!
The 2019 film was a hit at the box office, earning over $115 million despite costing only $22 million to make.
In the movie, Mickey Pearson, portrayed by Matthew McConaughey, was a powerful drug dealer attempting to sell his successful marijuana empire to a wealthy family.
