Nicole Kidman insisted that a particularly shocking scene remain in her 2012 movie, The Paperboy, despite objections from director Lee Daniels.

In a dramatic ocean scene, Zac Efron’s character, Jack Jansen, experiences intense pain after being severely stung by jellyfish while swimming off the Florida coast.
Charlotte quickly ran to help, and in a surprising move, urinated on him while onlookers watched in shock. Reports say this was captured on video with no tricks or editing.
Daniels confessed he started to feel uneasy about the film’s content while getting ready to premiere The Paperboy at the Cannes Film Festival.
The scene seemed right when they were filming it, but the director started wondering if it was too intense for the final version of the movie.
Kidman, however, was adamant that it should stay.
Daniels later told Vulture that he’d called his main actress to share his concerns about something.
The director recalls that Nicole Kidman pointed out he was the one who requested the scene and encouraged him to stay strong and not second-guess himself afterward.
Honestly, I was so relieved! Thankfully, my suggestions really resonated with the director, and that scene stayed in the final cut of the film when it premiered at Cannes back in May 2012. It was a huge moment!
Kidman later explained the unusual scene, saying it was written in the movie’s script and intentionally directed by Daniels.
She also praised Efron for making her feel comfortable during the unusual shoot.
The actress admitted the scene was very intense and was surprised by how quickly videos and conversations about it went viral on social media.

She truly believes he’s innocent and is doing everything she can – involving others, really pushing the investigation – because she wants to clear his name and build a life with him. It’s her unwavering devotion that keeps driving things forward.
Their investigation soon takes a dangerous turn as buried secrets and corruption begin to emerge.

In a 2017 BuzzFeed interview, Zendaya shared a story about filming a very personal scene where director Daniels let the cameras keep running even though it wasn’t fully scripted, allowing the moment to unfold naturally.
Zac explained that the series of events became increasingly physical, and he wasn’t sure when it was meant to stop.
He acknowledged things felt a little strange during the experience, but also said that collaborating so intimately with Nicole Kidman was something he’d always remember.
