The WWE Universe misses Big E

As a long-time WWE fan with over two decades of wrestling fandom under my belt, I must say that the current narrative between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston is one of the most intriguing storylines in recent memory. The potential breakup of The New Day has left fans divided, but as someone who’s been around for a while, I can see the writing on the wall.

The story being told between Xavier Woods and Kofi Kinston is one of the more compelling aspects of WWE Monday Night Raw. The potential split of The New Day is an idea that has the vast majority of fans split. Some want to see it go down to give both men something different. While others want The New Day to remain a force in the tag team division. It seems like the breakup is coming, but one thing is clear. The WWE misses Big E.

Karrion Kross may have done enough to cause a split within the most beloved tag team in recent memory. Along with E, Woods and Xavier were an important stable – not only for what they did in the ring, but for what they represented outside of it. They are a trio of Black men who were almost forgotten about, even though they each had strong legacies and following in the industry. KofiMania was a moment that gave Kingston his respect as a performer, but also set the path that allowed professional wrestling to enjoy championship reigns for Big E, Bobby Lashley, Carmelo Hayes, Trick Williams, and perhaps even Swerve Strickland in All Elite Wrestling. They are icons in the space and deserve to be recognized as such.

It’s now two years since “Big E” last entered the ring for competition. He frequently appears during pre-shows, and he’s in excellent shape at the gym. However, there’s no indication of a comeback on the horizon. At this stage, our hope is that Big E has a long and fulfilling life post-recovery from a potentially fatal accident.

The narrative revolves around the shared sentiment that Woods and Kingston are both yearning for Big E, a feeling exacerbated by Kross’s whispers in Woods’ ear. Meanwhile, Kingston is persistently seeking strategies to gain an edge against their increasing opposition on WWE Raw. It’s intriguing to observe these two men openly express the emotional toll of being apart from their fellow warrior for such a prolonged period.

Xavier Woods and Kofi Kingston deeply feel the absence of Big E’s protective presence in the ring, but it’s not just the WWE tag team that misses him. His unique blend of raw power and comedic charm was a valuable asset to the company, a quality that many others struggle to emulate. Big E was one of those exceptional superstars who could have been the cornerstone of WWE entertainment for years if given the chance.

Thinking back on the past few years of The New Day, the melancholy realization is, “What might have been.” This narrative revolves around the hardship Woods and Kingston face without their teammate. However, it’s evident that they all deeply miss Big E.
