Movie production can take years of planning, but sometimes a film comes together quickly, sparked by a lucky opportunity and the dedication of just a few people. That’s how it happened with [Movie Title], a film made on a spontaneous idea that’s already earning a strong, positive response on Rotten Tomatoes before its release this week.
Just five years ago, a playful tweet hinted at a potential collaboration between Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa in a buddy cop film reminiscent of Lethal Weapon, directed by David Leitch. That idea has now become The Wrecking Crew, and the cast has expanded to include Morena Baccarin, Jacob Batalon, and Temuera Morrison. Although Leitch wasn’t able to direct, Ángel Manuel Soto took the helm and, judging by early reviews, successfully brought the vision to life.
As of today, The Wrecking Crew has received a very positive 85% score, with critics particularly impressed by the strong connection between the two lead actors. Many reviewers appreciate that the film delivers both exciting action and genuine humor. Jeff Ewing from Collider noted that Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista “feel born to play very different, equally powerful brothers,” praising their comedic timing and action skills. Frank Scheck of THR highlighted the importance of chemistry between the leads, stating that Bautista and Momoa “have plenty of it.” Julian Roman of MovieWeb gave the film a 3.5 out of 5 star review.
The Wrecking Crew is a wildly fun and over-the-top action comedy. Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa deliver great performances in a fast-paced story filled with crude humor and plenty of action, never letting up on the excitement.
Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista Have Made Magic from the Ultimate Long Shot
The idea for The Wrecking Crew started when Dave Bautista and Jason Momoa expressed their mutual interest in working together online. Bautista initially mentioned the possibility in a social media post, simply hoping to see if it could happen. Shortly after, Momoa shared on The Late Late Show that they both believed the movie was a guaranteed hit and were actively working to make it a reality.
