The Witcher movie confirms Netflix release date with first-look clip
As a seasoned gamer and ardent follower of The Witcher saga, I must say that the upcoming animated movie, Sirens of the Deep, has me thoroughly enthused! Having spent countless hours battling monsters as Geralt in the video games, it’s a delight to see Doug Cockle reprise his role for this new adventure.
Netflix has confirmed the release date for The Witcher‘s animated movie.
During its Geeked Week celebration, it was revealed that the game titled “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep” is set to release on the date of February 11, 2025.
In this standalone movie, Doug Cockle once again embodies the character he won an award for, Geralt of Rivia. The production of this film is overseen by Lauren Schmidt Hissrich, the creator of the television series “The Witcher”.
In this reinterpretation of the tale titled “A Little Sacrifice“, Geralt takes on a task to examine peculiar assaults in a coastal hamlet. He swiftly becomes entangled in a centuries-long conflict between the villagers and marine creatures.
In the opening video you can view above, we have Doug Cockle introducing a brand new adversary that Geralt will face.
Soon, Geralt will once again take on various challenges, this time facing not just humans and creatures, but also merfolk,” he shared. “Indeed, he’ll engage in swordplay with merfolk, an unexpected foe. This is quite fascinating! I can hardly wait for such an exciting turn of events.
In the broader world of the Netflix show “The Witcher,” the storyline of “Sirens of the Deep” unfolds with Liam Hemsworth assuming the role of Geralt, replacing Henry Cavill in the live-action portrayal.
In the upcoming series, Joey Batey and Anya Chalotra will return to their characters, Jaskier and Yennefer of Vengerberg, respectively, from the live-action version of The Witcher.
Actress Christina Wren, known for playing Will Trent, is set to be part of the Witcher series, taking on the role of Essi Daven, a longtime friend of Jaskier who may develop romantic feelings for Geralt.
In the writing of this animated film’s screenplay, co-executive producer Mike Ostrowski teamed up with Rae Benjamin, a writer for the series. Kang Hei Chul takes on the director role following his previous work on Netflix’s 2021 animated movie titled The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf.
The animated series “The Witcher: Sirens of the Deep” debuts on February 11, 2025. You can currently stream seasons 1-3 and the spin-off “The Witcher: Blood Origin” on Netflix, with season 4 already confirmed for release.
