The Wild Conspiracy Theory Discussion The X-Files’ David Duchovny Unintentionally Got Wrapped Up In With Fans

David Duchovny’s portrayal of Fox Mulder in the renowned sci-fi show The X-Files has linked him with the concept of conspiracy theories for over three decades. In his personal life, however, he always kept a distance from the fictional narratives he acted alongside Gillian Anderson during filming. This separation continued until after the series’ initial run ended, when Duchovny unintentionally slipped into a conversation about a significant conspiracy theory.

In relation to his upcoming TV series “Secrets Declassified” on History Channel, the new host recently spoke with People magazine. During this interview, David Duchovny, famously known for his role in “Californication”, discussed an unexpected situation he found himself in. He rarely entertains fan speculations about fanciful stories, but around 2015, during the revival of “X-Files”, he was frequently questioned about reptiles. At the time, he shared his honest opinions, unaware of the extensive lizard debate that existed: a conversation he later discovered.

If someone begins to invest time in me in a way that feels suspicious, I can pick up on it and will find a way out of the situation. However, I recall, around 10 years back, I believe we were attending some event related to a reboot or something similar in San Diego. Many people asked me about my feelings towards lizards, to which I responded that I had no issues with them. At the time, I was unaware that we were discussing a lizard conspiracy theory – I only found out later what our conversation was actually about.

Is it just me, or is it surprising that the well-known fictional FBI agent, who usually shuts down paranormal discussions, doesn’t seem to be aware of the lizard people theory? Given his strict boundaries and likely lack of frequent internet use or deep dives into social media, this isn’t too unexpected.

For those unaware, the main idea is that some individuals believe in the existence of shape-shifting reptilian humanoids living among us. While it’s intriguing, it’s a heavy subject to impose on an actor due to their character’s belief in such extraordinary concepts. Even though I enjoy exploring wild theories myself, fans should consider the impact on the actors before asking about lizard people. Nevertheless, it’s fascinating how Duchovny got involved with this topic.

The Twin Peaks alum then didn’t mince his words when he shared his thoughts on the topic at large:

It’s a simplification of the world to believe in conspiracies.

Here it is! He’s not the type to subscribe to the “I want to believe” mentality akin to Fox Mulder, and that’s perfectly okay. His extensive exploration of conspiracies was evident in some of the most memorable X-Files episodes, which often featured up-and-coming TV stars as guest appearances. It’s almost inconceivable that, had David Duchovny been cast for Full House, ’90s television might have unfolded quite differently! Can you imagine the world we’d be living in if he had portrayed Danny Tanner, Joey Gladstone, or Jesse Katsopolis instead?

Whether delving into the simplification of our current world or not, it’s clear where Duchovny aligns himself. Yet, if you’re an ardent fan of Scully and Mulder, seasoned in their quest for truth, you might catch the veteran actor unawares with a discussion on conspiracies, albeit with caution. To play it safe, I suggest revisiting or starting to watch again this legendary series on Hulu, as the truth, indeed, is out there!
