The Wheel of Time season 3 debuts first teaser trailer and confirms March 2025 release date!

As a seasoned fantasy enthusiast with a heart full of nostalgia for the golden age of epic literature, I can hardly contain my excitement for the return of “The Wheel of Time” on Prime Video! With its richly woven tapestry of magic, mystery, and adventure, this series has been a long-awaited breath of fresh air in an increasingly crowded genre.

The Wheel of Time is one of the biggest fantasy book series of all time, and over the past few years, it’s also been making a mark as one of the hottest new fantasy television adaptations on Prime Video. The anticipation is high for season 3, and now, at last, we have the first major update about its return: The Wheel of Time season 3 will premiere March 13 on Prime Video! Mark your calendar’s friends, because we’re heading to the Two Rivers, the Aiel Waste, Tar Valon and beyond!

At CCXP, an annual Comic Con event in Brazil, showrunner Rafe Judkins, along with actors Josha Stradowski (Rand al’Thor) and Madeleine Madden (Egwene), were present. They unveiled the first trailer for season 3 of The Wheel of Time, and I must admit, it left me with goosebumps that I’m still struggling to put into words while typing this post. You can watch it right here:

Moiraine contemplates an impossible choice in The Wheel of Time season 3 trailer

This trailer may technically be labeled a “teaser,” but it contains enough exciting material in its 1:19 run time that we’ll be poring over it for details for days. Season 3 of The Wheel of Time is set to adapt the fourth book in the series, The Shadow Rising, which is largely considered one of the best that author Robert Jordan ever wrote. That novel sees Rand al’Thor head out to the Aiel homeland in hopes of winning them to his side in the fight against the Shadow, while Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford) faces threats closer to home and budding Aes Sedai trainees Nynaeve (ZoĆ« Robins) and Elayne (Ceara Coveney) hunt for the sisters of the Black Ajah, a sect of Aes Sedai who serve the Dark One.

The trailer teases all these plotlines and more, set to an eerie choral arrangement of the words “time, time, time.” And despite all the exciting things (Lanfear! Moghedien! Egwene’s Accepted trial! The glass columns of Rhuidean!), there is a foreboding feeling that time may be running out for at least one of our key players. The most haunting line of the trailer comes from Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike), who says, “I have seen a thousand thousand futures. In every future where I lived, Rand dies. And the only way he lives…is if I don’t.”

Here are some lines that suggest theories we can derive from these passages, but since they involve revealing spoilers from both “The Shadow Rising” and the subsequent book “The Fires of Heaven,” let’s leave that discussion for another time. The Wheel of Time series was initially designed to span eight seasons in order to adapt the full 15-book story by Robert Jordan and Brandon Sanderson. As we approach the midpoint of the show’s third season, it’s clear that not all characters will survive as we venture into increasingly perilous times. I have a hunch this is going to make for an exciting season of television!

Get ready for the third season of “The Wheel of Time” to start airing on March 13th! Once more, let the Dragon soar with the currents of time and grace our television sets.
