‘The West Wing’ Is Streaming All Episodes on Netflix in December 2025

Fans of great political dramas are in for a treat! After being unavailable for five years, Aaron Sorkin’s The West Wing is returning to the streaming service in December. Like other popular shows such as Spartacus and Nurse Jackie which were also gone for a while, The West Wing is making a comeback that will please those who loved its quick dialogue and compelling portrayal of a president who captured the nation’s imagination.

The West Wing is a landmark drama from NBC that aired in the 2000s. Over seven seasons and 154 episodes, the show followed the presidency of Josiah Bartlet, portrayed by Martin Sheen. Now, on December 9th, both longtime fans and new viewers will have the chance to re-experience Bartlet’s time in the White House whenever they want.

The early seasons of The West Wing set a high standard for television dramas and launched the careers of its talented cast, including Bradley Whitford, Richard Schiff, Allison Janney, Rob Lowe, Dulé Hill, Moira Kelly, and the late John Spencer. Thanks to its excellent casting and well-written scripts, the show was incredibly popular, and viewers grew to admire the fictional White House staff. Many fans even wished President Bartlet could have been a real-life president, especially during the politically charged years of George W. Bush’s presidency.

The show received widespread critical acclaim and was frequently recognized at awards shows. Throughout its seven seasons, The West Wing earned an impressive 27 Emmy Awards from a total of 98 nominations, and it won the award for Outstanding Drama Series four consecutive years.

Is ‘The West Wing’ About to Get a Reboot?

Rumors are circulating about a possible revival of the TV show The West Wing. The buzz started in early 2024 when stars Joshua Malina and Mary McCormack hinted at something happening on social media.

Although a full reunion hasn’t happened, the cast did come together for a 25th anniversary event at the White House when Joe Biden was president. Since then, there haven’t been any indications that the show will be revived. However, Aaron Sorkin has talked about whether The West Wing would be relevant in today’s complicated political climate. He shared his thoughts with The Hollywood Reporter in August 2024, stating:

I believe it would succeed for the same reasons it did before: it was simply a well-made show with compelling stories and a talented cast and crew.

Bringing back The West Wing would only work if there’s a compelling new story, according to Aaron Sorkin. A revival would likely feature a completely new cast, given how much time has passed since the original series. Many believe this could be a mistake, as the original cast and their chemistry were key to the show’s success and wouldn’t be replicable nearly 20 years later.

Honestly, a new version of The West Wing might not be necessary. Instead, you could just enjoy all seven original seasons on Netflix this December – it’s a great way to experience the show again.
