The Weeknd busted mumbling the words to one of his biggest hits in Melbourne as fans speculate he forgot the lyrics: ‘He’s over this damn song’
As a long-time fan who’s followed The Weeknd since his early days, I must say, it feels like I’ve been on this rollercoaster ride with him, and it seems we’re hitting some bumps now. The video of him stumbling over Starboy’s lyrics left me a little puzzled. It’s not that I haven’t felt the same way when trying to remember all the words to a favorite song after one too many glasses of wine!
During a recent performance in Melbourne, The Weeknd was observed stumbling over the lyrics to one of his songs.
During the Australian segment of his After Hours Til Dawn tour, the renowned Canadian artist, aged 34 and known as Abel Tesfaye, was filmed in a TikTok video.
The video appeared to show the singer failing to remember the lyrics to his hit, Starboy.

Instead of singing legible words he hummed and scatted to the melody.
In the caption, TikTok user TT76544 wrote, ‘Did anyone notice The Weeknd mumbling the lyrics?’
Critics in the comment section hypothesized that he might have overlooked one of his most popular songs, or perhaps grown weary of performing it repeatedly.
‘No way he forgot STARBOY, this was HIS song. Time goes by so fast,’ one fan commented.
‘He just got bored,’ wrote another, while a third said, ‘He’s so over this damn song.’
As a devoted follower, I find myself compelled to echo the sentiment: “This tune is nearing its decade-long reign, and his discography boasts an impressive 100+ tracks. Recently, he was startled by an unhinged individual on stage. It’s high time we afford Abel some respite.
The other fan expressed, “It seemed like he was making fun of those who were singing,” accompanied by an emoticon showing tears of laughter.
Some fans felt let down when the initial performance during his Australian tour on Saturday didn’t meet their expectations.
At 8:45 pm, the performer stepped onto the stage in Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium, fifteen minutes past his originally scheduled start time.
After approximately 10:30 pm, he suddenly concluded his performance, causing attendees to rush to TikTok and criticize the artist for the brief duration of his concert that cost over $270 per ticket.
One fan uploaded a video of herself to the social media site as she sat looking perplexed in the stadium seats while attendees filed out of the venue.
She wrote, “I’m not alone in thinking it ended too soon, right?” (implying that she wasn’t the only one who felt that way) regarding the brief video she shared.
Supporters rushed to her comment section to concur, as one individual posted: ‘He quite literally just strolled away.’
‘It was such an underwhelming end,’ another said, while a third commented: ‘He came on so late.’
‘Yesss!! We waited forever for him to come on then it was over before we knew it,’ added another.
Another person stated: ‘My children attended and really enjoyed it, however, he arrived late and left earlier than expected given the cost.’
‘My blood is still boiling,’ one fan fumed.
‘He arrived late, left early, left without an encore, didn’t perform Moth to a Flame which is one of his BIGGEST songs. Too anti-climactic.’
Daily Mail Australia has reached out to The Weeknd for comment.
