I’m so excited about the new season of American Horror Story! They’ve finally announced who’s going to be in it, and honestly, everyone is losing it – in a good way! We’re getting some familiar faces back, which is amazing, and get this – Jessica Lange is returning! Plus, they’ve cast the singer who’s about to star as Elphaba in Wicked, which is a seriously cool pairing. I can’t wait!
Ariana Grande is working with Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk again, the team she previously collaborated with on the show Scream Queens (according to Variety).
Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, and Gabourey Sidibe are also returning, alongside Jessica Lange, for the first time since season eight, Apocalypse, which aired in 2018.

Evan Peters and Sarah Paulson will also be appearing in the new season, marking their return to American Horror Story after the 2021 season, Double Feature. Joining them are returning cast members Billie Lourd, Leslie Grossman, and Emma Roberts.
Fans are thrilled with the announced cast, which Ryan Murphy Productions revealed in a short video on their Instagram page.
Pop culture critic Evan Ross Katz expressed his overwhelming reaction with an enthusiastic message, while Drag Race star Detox shared that she was deeply moved.
Noah Cyrus excitedly wrote “JESSICAAAAAA LAAAANGGGGG,” and another fan shared that they were completely shocked.
Lange’s recent comments really upset fans, especially because she had hinted before that she was leaving the show.
In a 2019 interview with Entertainment Weekly, she said she likely wouldn’t return to the show. She felt the first four seasons were the strongest, with fantastic characters and an exciting atmosphere. While she enjoyed working with some of her favorite actors, she didn’t believe they could recapture that same magic.
Whatever plans Murphy and his team have for the new season are clearly compelling enough to bring her back, but specific details haven’t been released yet.
Many fans believe the new casting suggests the show will revisit the storyline from seasons three (Coven) and eight (Apocalypse). One fan excitedly commented, “Looks like we’re getting a continuation of Coven!” while another simply stated, “This definitely feels like Coven.”
Season 12, called Delicate, finished airing in April and starred Kim Kardashian, Matt Czuchry, and Cara Delevingne.
Per the Instagram reveal, season 13 will arrive in time for Halloween 2026.
