The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon renewed for season 3, takes place in Spain
As a hardcore fan of The Walking Dead universe, I can’t help but feel elated as I witness AMC’s continued investment into this post-apocalyptic world. It feels like just yesterday when we bid farewell to the main show in 2022, but now, we have Maggie and Negan exploring Manhattan, Rick and Michonne gracing our screens once more, and Daryl traversing Europe!
After The Walking Dead wrapped up in 2022, AMC has been putting more resources than before into expanding the Walking Dead universe. Since then, we’ve witnessed Maggie (Lauren Cohan) and Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) exploring a post-apocalyptic Manhattan. Additionally, Rick (Andrew Lincoln) and Michonne (Danai Gurira) made their return in The Ones Who Live. Not to mention Daryl Dixon’s (Norman Reedus) escapades in France!
Daryl Dixon’s series is coming back later in 2022, bringing fan favorite Carol Peletier (Melissa McBride) with it. In the upcoming season, Carol will take on a significant role, leading AMC to title it “The Book of Carol.” At this year’s Comic-Con in San Diego, AMC revealed that the spinoff will be renewed for a third season. This time, the action will shift to Spain! According to The Hollywood Reporter, here’s a glimpse into what season 3 has in store:
Season three tracks Carol (Melissa McBride) and Daryl (Norman Reedus) as they continue their journey towards home and the ones they love. As they struggle to find their way back, the path takes them farther astray, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar conditions as they witness the various effects of the Walker apocalypse.
In the coming month, the new season will start shooting in diverse places throughout Spain, such as Madrid, Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia, and Valencia. Among these locations, Madrid serves as the primary base for filming.
1. “Scott M. Gimple, AMC’s Chief Content Officer, stated that France transformed Daryl and Carol’s tale into an epic poem based on their experiences. He hinted that the upcoming events in Spain could surpass it. We’re thrilled to present more of the Terrific Two along with fresh intriguing characters, in a previously unexplored, stunning, terrifying part of their shattered world.”
McBride will be returning for Season 3 and is thrilled about traveling to Spain for filming. In the coming weeks, we begin production, and her anticipation is palpable.
Might we see Rick’s brother in Daryl Dixon season 3?
When I learned that Daryl Dixon’s season 3 was set in Spain, a single thought crossed my mind: Might we catch a glimpse of Rick’s brother, Jeffrey? However, if you haven’t delved into the world of The Walking Dead comics by Robert Kirkman, you might not understand my reference. Intriguingly, Rick’s brother isn’t a central figure in the main comic series. Instead, he is the lead character in The Alien, a spin-off story penned by Brian K. Vaughan. This one-shot comic narrates Jeffrey Grimes’ survival journey in Spain after the onset of the zombie apocalypse.
It’s unlikely that Jeffrey Grimes will appear in Daryl Dixon’s third season, but there’s always a chance for an intriguing plot twist.
As an avid gamer excitedly looking forward to season 3, I can’t help but remember that we still have season 2 coming up soon. Daryl Dixon’s epic saga in The Book of Carol, returns to AMC on September 29. Let’s not forget to tune in!
