The Vox Machina cast loves not having to cut away from the violent or sexy stuff
As a seasoned gamer with over two decades under my belt, I can confidently say that the third season of The Legend of Vox Machina has truly outdone itself. It’s as if the creators have peered into the soul of every D&D fan and crafted a masterpiece that resonates profoundly.
The highly awaited third season of “The Legend of Vox Machina” has laid everything on the table, leaving nothing to the imagination. Whether it’s tender moments between characters such as Vex and Percy, or intense battle sequences, they’ve left nothing out, offering a vivid portrayal in all its detail.
When questioned about how these specific scenes align with their concept for the series, the Critical Role team explained to CinemaBlend that Vox Machina is precisely the show they aspire to create and enjoy watching. Their portrayal of the intricate details (and everything in between) isn’t intended to be excessive or gratuitous. Instead, they believe it adds authenticity to the show, making the world more immersive, a quality that any Dungeons & Dragons fan can appreciate. To make a campaign captivating, trust in the world and characters is essential. This trust is built by portraying events in a way that resonates with everyone involved, whether at the table or on screen in this case.
Matt Mercer, both a voice actor and the creator of Vox Machina, credits the creative freedom they’ve experienced to Amazon Prime Video. Unlike traditional network television where creative ideas often get altered due to constant notes, Amazon has been an exceptional collaborator, understanding their vision and offering valuable input in a supportive manner. As a result, they can now incorporate as many expletives and adult scenes as they desire.
Matt Mercer, the voice actor for Grog, praised Amazon Prime Video for giving them flexibility regarding depictions of intense or sensual scenes.
We live for it. I mean, that’s the beauty of it. Prime Video have been amazing partners. From Day 1, the encouragement was, ‘Go for it. Go nuts. Go crazy.’ We know the types of shows that have seen success over there, and that we love to watch. From Day 1, the question was, ‘Is there a world in which there isn’t as much swearing, that this might be a more family friendly show’ in some of our earlier meetings. And the answer was always ‘No.’
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to witness the transformation of Vox Machina from an audio podcast/Twitch stream into a visually captivating series on Prime Video. It’s a dream come true for the Critical Role team to be able to breathe life into their cherished characters without any creative constraints. This partnership not only benefits Prime Video financially, but also empowers the creators to realize their creative vision. It’s a win-win-win scenario for us fans and the creators alike. Here’s to more collaborations between creative minds and TV studios that yield successes like The Legend of Vox Machina!
Each Thursday, you’ll find new installments of the series “The Legend of Vox Machina” on Amazon Prime Video, released in groups of three episodes.
